Today I wanted to play with these new dies – Fine Frames Rectangles Die and Fine Frames Circles Die. There is also another version of Fine Frames Rectangles that fits a US A2 card but I don’t have that one (every time I try to buy it, it’s out of stock)
First of all, I cut them from various leftover pieces of card stock that I had available, including left to right, adhesive-backed glitter card in lilac, shiny gold card, and the orange glitter card. The gold card cut brilliantly first time. The two glitter card stocks were more tricky, and had to be run through my Big Shot several times with a shim, and even then I had to run a craft pick around each one to be able to fully separate them. This is more a problem of the glitter card than it is of the die as I’ve noticed that happen before.
I decided to experiment with the lilac glitter card and I chose this Plum card stock from Gina K for my background. After I had separated the fine frames with a craft pick and started placing them on my card, I noticed that they started to look like envelopes, so that’s the direction I ended up taking with them until I ended up with this result. I can see it finished off with some kind of “Happy Mail” sentiment or something like that.
I placed a couple of the die cuts from yesterday on the card just to see how it would look.
I probably won’t end up using these exact ones but I like the general appearance.
I then turned to the gold die cuts to play around with them so I placed them on various card stocks to decide which colour looked best with them.
These are all from Gina K and I really love the teal colour. The way I have placed the die cuts reminds me of ipods which is not the look I was going for lol
In short, I wasn’t getting any inspiration here with the gold frames or the orange glitter so I decided to put them aside for now and move on to something else – time’s a-wasting on my crafty weekend! I do have that awesome plum happy mail envelopes card out of it though, and I can definitely reproduce that again if I want to.
