Hello and hope you are having a crafty Sunday! I’ve had a few issues with my phone this week (it’s totally dead right now) and I usually use it for my photos, so therefore no photos! After finally getting it to switch on again so I could get the photos I’d already taken, off of it, it crashed again, so I had to resort to using my actual real camera! *gasp* I know, why don’t I just use the camera anyway, it’s a really good camera… but the phone is just so easy and it has so many megapixels more than the camera etc etc etc. So now we have a different sized photo to the usual as the camera is different aspect ratio to the phone, but they are more square and so the upside is that they are more compatible with Instagram lol. (There had to be a bright side!) Also I did so much knitting during the week that I couldn’t move my arm, but that’s another story and there will be a knitting/crochet update shortly. Meanwhile on with the project which is another art journal page for the Bird theme at Art Journal Journey.
I was hoping to be able to get another page done but it wasn’t going to be this one, this one was a surprise! I was doing a bit of Black Friday sale browsing and one of the shops I buy from had a sale on Tim Holtz products, and I saw this bird/aviary collage paper so I put it in my basket. Then just before I was about to purchase, I just thought I would just check which of his collage papers I had as this one did look a little familiar, and sure enough it was there in the drawer with the rest of them, still sealed up and unused! Needless to say, I didn’t proceed with my order lol and so I decided that I would use the one that I didn’t know I had, on this page! So I started on this last night, and there is so much chaos in the room that I actually had to stand up to do my collage haha. I decided to use this page which just had random test stamping and paint on it.
I tore up the bits that I wanted to lay on my page and pasted them all in place using matte medium. I like how some of the stamping can still be seen.
I really like how this paper is hanging off the corner of the page but it will probably have to be tidied up in case it gets ripped. Underneath you can see a hideous orange/red page that I really need to fix somehow…
Sidenote: while I was waiting for the matte medium to dry, I was also swatching some paints and filling up my watercolour palette from tubes and a couple of my tubes had a bit of overflow, so to use up the paint I started making these bookmarks out of some leftover strips of watercolour paper.
This morning I woke up to mist and overcast skies and really poor quality daylight, so I tried to get my page finished and photographed quickly before we lost any reasonable light. I added some gold paint splatters.

I added a little bit of gesso and some Sand Chalk paint to the area at the bottom that I wanted to write my quote on so it would show up better, and then wrote it on using a black waterproof pen. Finishing touch was to use the leftover gold paint to edge the pages and that was it done!
How was your Sunday? Let me know in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

A beautiful page, love the paper and the quotes. Thank you for sharing with us on Art Journal Journey.
So pretty! Love that collage paper – so perfect for the AJJ bird theme. The gold splatters and other details you added or had on the page already work well too. The words are lovely and perfect for the page. Super cool to see a bit of your other projects that you are working on. Fun post.
A beautiful spread Elle! I love those bird papers, and that’s a great quote.
Hope your arm is better soon. It’s hard to rest isn’t it? I have an RSI in my wrist due to too much crochet. Lol.
Have a great week,
Alison xx
This turned out great. I love that tissue and you did a great job with the rest of the stamping, too. I stand to make all my art, except when I sew. I don’t own a cell phone, so my camera is with me all the time. I think your photos turned out great! Thanks for sharing this with Art Journal Journey using Wendy’s theme, too.
Rest your knitting arm, dear.
Gorgeous journal page spread! The birds are so pretty.
I hope the phone issue fixes itself. I tend to use my phone all the time…never use my camera anymore. My phone takes better quality photos and I can choose sizes/perspective as needed.
Sorry about your arm. Rest up.
Have a lovely week,
Serena (AEDM)
