Happy Sunday! I’m trying to blot out the news today and stay in my happy place so I thought I would share these Christmas tree ornaments I made for my tree, and also as gifts for our group of friends who exchange small gifts every year.
First of all here are mine, made for my own tree and just finished today. They are made of air dry clay, painted with acrylics and then decorated with gold wire and beads before being added to the tree.
Here’s someone who can’t wait for the tree to go up!
This will be their first tree so I don’t really know what to expect… perhaps it will be completely fine and safe?
Or perhaps his sneaky little sister will discover new ways to access the ornaments? Just look at how excited she is – her eyes are enormous lol. A few minutes after this photo, she had that glitter ball ornament off the tree!
Anyway, back to my ornaments…
Here’s a few photos I took along the way…
I used some cookie cutters to cut out my clay. I had a few different shapes but I had three stars in different sizes so I ended up just using those and then I used the cat shaped cutter to make some for my cat loving friends 🙂
Here’s a look at two of the cats, still have a couple more to do!
I used the biggest of the three sizes to send to my friends as they were big enough to write a little message on the backs. I also painted them in different colours.
I really love that purple one in the middle!
But ultimately it had to be teal for my tree.
So let’s see how long they last on the tree before someone tries to steal one!
Oh nearly forgot, here is a little blast from the past – some Cross Stitch Christmas tree decorations from back in the day when I used to be obsessed with cross stitching everything I could find including Christmas decorations! I found them in a box of old stuff so they have been added to the tree also.

Elle, I truly enjoyed your post, Your clay ornaments are dazzling, especially in the glow of your tree’s lights! Those kitty ornaments are so cool, too! And having been a big cross stitcher in the past, I can really appreciate all the work that went into that charming set! I just found an old clay wreath I made in my teens. I remember we made our own clay from flour water and something else; I think salt. Anyway, I tossed that relic! Thanks so much for sharing your ornaments with us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog!
