Hello everyone! Here is a page I made today for this month’s theme at Art Journal Journey. The theme for March is A Single Flower, so I had been thinking about what kind of single flower to make since I saw the challenge announcement a few days ago. Then today, as I was drinking my tea, it hit me!
Here is my current favourite tea… delicious or maybe that should be tea-lious!
I already save a lot of tea packets to use in my art but I really liked the colour of these packets today and decided to make them into petals for my flower.
Also on my table were some gel printed leaves leftover from this project, and some more gel printed/gold leaf scraps which are leftover from a yet to be published post (sometime next week). I thought I would make my background with neocolours so I pulled out my swatches to choose colours.
Before painting, I did some journalling – sorry it had to be blurred as it’s a bit personal – but I needed the photo to remind myself what I did.
After the neocolours, I added some paint on top with lots of drips and splattery bits.
These little bits and pieces were all lying about on my table leftover from other things. I cut the recycling and organic symbols out of the tea packet and used them as little tiny flowers and arranged my big flower and leaves in place. The photo of Marie Antoinette is also holding a flower!
Here are some closer looks…
I drew around my rectangles with a black stabilo.
I found a quote that I thought would work with my flower standing tall but actually a bit wonky lol.
I drew the flower stem and leaves using some pitt pens and a black pencil.
And that’s the finished page.
