Sakura Get Well Soon Card

So you might remember these cute little cherry blossom flowers from this post Cherry Blossom Musings. I started off this little exercise because I was supposed to be making an sympathy card but I went a little off track and ended up making a totally different card which you can see here, so then I was left with these cute little flowers which I saved for another day.

Well, out of the blue I had a need for a get well card so I started playing around with these flowers trying various layouts and also various cardstock colours for the card background before ending up with this one

I love how it turned out.  I really love this Gina K Wild Wisteria cardstock too, it’s such a luminous colour.  This particular die set also has crease lines so you can make the flowers more 3-d and as you will see from the next photo, they really stand out from the card.

The flower centres and stamen also have Nuvo drops and Glossy Accents on them and the whole flower is covered in Nuvo Aqua Shimmer. This was very much a “see how it goes” card with very little planning involved.  I was just playing around with the placement of the flowers and leaves until I found something I was happy with, then stamped the Concord and 9th branch from Beautiful Branches from Concord and 9th (such a useful set btw) for the flowers to hang from.  Then I had this space in the bottom right where I wanted to add some kind of sentiment and after a bit of trial and error, I ended up using another favourite set – the Skinny Alpha die set from Waffle Flower.

I finished off the card with some stickles and ran round the edges with a silver metallic marker.
