March and April are always busy months for birthdays and keep me on my toes.  One day I will have some stashed away for emergencies but meanwhile I am still taking them one birthday at a time.  This was a fun one to do and was mostly simple stamping so it was quite quick to put together and get in the mail.  This card also features an older die set from Concord & 9th called Top it off.  I love that you can take the cake layer stamps and make really interesting cakes with them in the colours of your choice – I was trying to stay with food colours but really you could go wild with them if you want.  I really love the dies that are in this set too, especially this “eat cake” cake topper which could be used on a real cake if you wanted too.

This card is made with three different stamp sets, the Top it Off set from Concord and 9th, the Holding Happiness set from Newton’s Nook, and the Big Birthday Sentiments from MFT.  I don’t have the dies for Holding Happiness, so I just cut around the lady holding the cake.

I used one piece of Neenah solar white cardstock and folded it in half, making the card 8.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide (close to an A5 UK size).  I like making cards this size, as it gives you a much bigger canvas to work with and for this card I pictured having the lady holding the card, standing on top of the other, bigger cake, so I needed a bigger card base to make that happen.
