Tis the season for lots of birthday and I seem to be playing catch up constantly! This is partly due to the fact that I like to make cards specifically for the person concerned and not just pull one out of my stash. So this time, I decided to use one of these faux batik backgrounds. The funny thing is that I had decided to use one of these for the latest Gina K challenge, and I had that to do and also the Altenew challenge. They were both due on the same day, so I was working on them both at the same time. The theme of the Gina K challenge was “Wing it” with an option to add gold details to it. I had the idea to use one of my faux batik backgrounds and turn some of the stamped flowers into butterflies by foiling over them.
I have one of those Heidi Swapp toner pens, so I used it to draw over some of the flowers that I think looked like they could be butterflies.
and this one also
So this all seems to be going swimmingly well, except that I missed the deadline for the linkup by 4 hours lol. I don’t know how I managed that but by the time I had got to this point and taken the photos, the linkup was closed, so I guess I got the time zones wrong. I thought I was ok as it was about 7pm on May 31st.
Anyway that was yesterday, and today I needed another birthday card ASAP, so I decided to use one of these unused cards and tweak it a little to suit my friend.
I used Waffle Flower’s Cutaway Alphabet stamps to heat emboss the name on the card in gold. Then I stamped small sentiments around the edges of the card. I decided to make a matching gift card to go with it, then made a yellow envelope to go with the card.
I also stamped the back of the cards with these cute little stamps – don’t ask me what they are atm because I can’t remember – I think they are both from the same set and I will check and update the post.
And because I needed a bag… I expanded on my idea for my mum’s gift bag a few days ago. This time I took another white paper bag and sprayed it with the new Distress Oxide sprays.
Once the Oxides were dry I wiped some of the chalkiness off, and sprayed the bag with fixative because I didn’t want it to come off on anything. Then used the Hugs and Wildflowers stamp to stamp flowers and sentiment on the bag.
