Day 3 Lace. This month on Instagram Birgit Koopsen (@birgit_koopsen) is holding a Gel Printing Challenge with fun daily prompts to make you get more out of your gel plate – and there are giveaways from both Birgit and @gelliarts. I love my gel plate and I don’t use it enough so I decided to join in. Here are the prompts and the links if you want to join in too. This image is from Birgit’s instagram page and IG has cut off her name from the bottom. so to see the photo and read about the challenge, click here.
Day Three – Lace
Love the idea of lace on the gel plate but unfortunately could not find any in my stash (though believe me it’s there!) so I decided to use this big lace stencil from Finnabair and wow did it turn out well! Look at how much texture is showing through with just some acrylic paint! I started by adding a white pearl paint onto my plate, then added the silver and the gold (no names on the tubes but the gold is called Gold Lame IIRC) then I added the stencil and started pulling prints. It really looks amazing IRL on the black cardstock, and so shiny!
I used my usual process to pull a print directly from the stencil to use the paint on it, but the photo doesn’t do it justice, however you can see all three of them below in this photo, side by side.
And because I was so impressed about the shiny and the texture on that black cardstock, I took a quick video to try and capture the detail. You can watch it below or on my IG – just click through to the second photo.
