Hello Crafty Peeps!
Today I’m sharing something that I made for my Kraft+ submission for their October challenge. This is my first time entering one of their challenges but I couldn’t resist when I saw the challenge photo. Unfortunately, it took me ages to get around to finishing it and nearly missed the deadline! I went into the craft room to finish it this morning, pulled out the drawer to get some paint, only to discover that the drawer was busted. Long story short, the drawer totally collapsed – storing all my acrylic paint in there was not a good idea, turns out lol – anyway I had to take the drawer apart, and fit it and reinforce it before I could get started on anything fun lol. But finally I had this, and managed to take some photos while there was still some daylight left.
This turned out to be an art journal page but it started out as an idea for a card. I started by pulling together everything I wanted to use, kraft card, burlap and corrugated kraft.
As I said, it was intended to be a card, so I got to work creating a background on the kraft cardstock.
It was around this time that I realised a card was just not going to cut it and it needed to be bigger! So I had to unfold the card and work on the full size again lol.
So I had all my elements in place but what was this page about? Sometimes I struggle with finding the right words but not today, today it was easy – CREATE WHAT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU – isn’t that what we are all supposed to be doing instead of worrying what other people are doing or whether we are “doing it right”?
I changed a few things, added some others and ended up with this art journal page which I am quite happy with and can now be slotted back into my journal book.
Here’s a close up of the top so you can read the text, and see the lovely multicoloured splatters!
And a close up of the bottom so you can read this text and see the photo better. In the photo it says “we must always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder” and of course TAKE YOUR TIME is key.
I am entering this card in Kraft+ October Challenge which is held on their Facebook page. This month the inspiration photo is:
