Hey friends,

Today I am sharing this tag set inspired by our current lockdown situation and the hashtags #stayhome #staysafe.

This month’s Mini Challenge on MTW is to use the word ALL on something small like a tag, card, postcard or ATC, so let’s look at what I ended up making for my DT project and a bit about how it came together.

I wanted to make little houses for our #stayhome situation but what little houses did I have?  Well how about these little houses from last year’s TH Halloween release!  You can see another more Halloween-y project here using these dies, which also happened to win one of the SSS challenges! I cut them out of an old amazon box.

I’m using these size #10 kraft tags from my stash, and started playing around with placement on the tags, including where to put the hashtag text.  I ma using this older alphabet set from TH; this 3/4 inch version has a hashtag die!

I covered the little houses with white gesso.

I used some of my favourite colours of Paperartsy Fresco paints to brayer the background onto the tags.  I wanted it to look like sky and grass for the houses to sit on.

To make the tags more robust, I backed them with cardboard from an old cereal box, and glued it together using bookbinding glue – not for any particular reason other than it was on the table!

i die cut the letters out of some old textured paper which is a lovely teal colour, and started trying to see where they would go and most importantly where they would fit!

I added some splatters to the background and then changed the message up a bit with some extra letters to create two tags that could stand separately or together.

I had already made a lot of these little entomology bugs and had some spares.

I thought the little dragonflies fitted the colour scheme perfectly!

And that’s basically it done.  I could have fiddled with it forever lol – dragonfly a little to the left, hashtag a bit lower, and so on, but really you have to know when it’s time to stop faffing about and call it finished.

Paperartsy Fresco Paints
Winsor and Newton White Gouache

I started something new for April:

Since we are all stuck inside and can’t leave the house, I thought I would try and do two things:
1. use this time to finish any unfinished projects
2. use as much recycled materials and scraps as possible (I do this a lot anyway) but also not to buy new stuff!
So, with that in mind, I will note the above on any posts, if applicable.
UNFINISHED PROJECT – NO
RECYCLED MATERIALS – YES (amazon box, cereal box, teal paper scraps)
