Oh how I am looking forward to next week so that I can enjoy exactly this…
Yes, Christmas vacation means exactly that – a week or two (if you’re lucky) of lounging around in your PJs, not bothering to get dressed and just being comfy and relaxed. Of course the same could be said for large parts of this year too, due to various lockdowns, working from home etc, but at this time of the year, it seems to be especially true, and everyone just takes a deep breath … and relaxes just a little bit more. I am also thinking that I might redesign my blog (again) during the break as I feel like making some changes – especially after creating a new website/shop for a friend and working on other people’s blogs – maybe it’s time to play with mine again during the holidays (and in my pyjamas lol).
So this page was inspired by a couple of things that came together unexpectedly. I have been following Kasia’s Advent Calendar prompts (still catching up even though it finished today) and so I had started this page for the “colour” prompt for Day 8. Yup, that’s some messy colour going on there lol
Then I left it alone for a few days while I thought about it some more, and then turned it upside down, and liked it a lot better. Then I came across this image and I started to see how it could work on my page – no really! I just needed to get inside her head and figure out what she was saying.
I drew a frame around the image and then recoloured it a little with my polychromos.
I marked out where I wanted her to go using a stabilo and then added some more colour to my background with neocolour IIs. This photo was taken in the evening so the colour is not accurate at all.
I added some journaling along the bottom of the page, mostly about my plan to spend Christmas in my pyjamas lol.
And at the top of the page…
These colours here at the top of the page are my absolute favourite – the way they have mixed together, I would love to have this as a scarf or something. I need to see if I can replicate this as a print (maybe something to do while I am spending all that down time in my PJs lol).
Remember we are all fabulous even in our pyjamas!
And that’s the finished page!
I hope you are staying safe and warm and enjoy celebrating whatever you are celebrating. I will be back soon with another project. Let me know what you think in the comments and as always, thanks for reading!

What started as a bit of a mess turned into a thing of beauty in the end. The colors you chose are incredible and I like how they blend together.
I am a person who hates anything around my waist, so I prefer night gowns to PJs. But I sure like the concept of wearing the same clothes two days in a row. You save on laundry, sh0wering, and soap. I think this is a brilliant idea, well thought out and brilliantly put together. Such a contrast to the brilliant woman on the right side of the page.
Sorry I’m late visiting, but life got in the way of computer time. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Tracey’s theme.
No excuse needed to wear my PJ’s although on arty days is dungarees, only to save the Pj’s haa haa.. she certainly looks fabulous, mine look nothing like that sadly. Thanks for sharing over @ AJJ and joining in with my theme. Tracey x
Your journal will be pure enchantment! Wonderful colors and texture. Hug’s Elke
Oh, this is so funny! What a nightmare of a dress that would be to iron! No wonder she’s wearing it twice 🙂
Lovely background to your journal pages and fabulous quotes! Thanks for joining the fun at Gecko Galz!
You are absolutely right about Christmas vacation. This time of year it perfect for doing nothing and wearing pjs all day. I love how that beautiful well dressed women looks fabulous on your “messy” page. They work together so well and the quote is fun. Enjoy your holiday and your PJ vacation Elle. Hugs-Erika
Brilliant!!! I’ve been doing just that! I’m saving the planet by washing my clothes less…hahaha
I really love those colours too!
