Happy new month everyone!

Since it is the very first day of the month, I am excited to share my DT inspiration project for October at More Than Words with you – and look it has cats on it! 🙂

This month’s challenge is all about using ORANGE or PURPLE or BOTH if you prefer.

I found this box full of Tim Holtz Halloween stuff from 2018 in a cupboard recently.  I seem to remember that I ordered it all to use with my spooky doll’s house but that it arrived too late for Halloween that year and so it got put away and forgotten about.  The plan would be to actually use some of it this year!

I pulled out two of the “vignette box tops” to use, along with the worn wallpaper pieces and the packaging from the box tops.  I wanted to use this as my base.  I also found a packet of Halloween ephemera too and found this witch and also a skeleton, and that’s when I got the idea to make it a Halloween Costume Shoppe page!
Since it was going to be a shop, I used the box tops to make shop windows, and added some clear acetate (from packaging) as the window glass.  I put the skeleton “costume” and the witch “costume” in the windows, and used some saved Christmas gift wrap as the backing.  The worn wallpaper has been used around the page edges.  I added brads to each window because…

… what good is a shop if it doesn’t open!  I painted the other side of the box tops with orange paint, and stamped 31 Oct over the top.  Then I also painted the backs of the skeleton and witch and drew in some “bones” on the skeleton for more interest – these are really not anatomically correct lol.

After adding the other ephemera and other stickers etc, I thought it looked a bit bare in the middle, so I drew on some spiders and wrote Hally Halloween with a black pen and the shop was ready for customers!

Let me know what you think in the comments.  As always, thanks for reading and HappyJournalling!Ingredients

I adore those black cats and how you chose an interactive entry. The colors scream of Halloween and the cats are the icing on the cake.

Your Halloween ephemera looks a lot like mine. I have so many pieces I need to use. That’s a fun page you made also, and I always love how you add some lift ups or pull outs. And it’s spooky but also quite fun. I think I can manage lots of orange and purple for this challenge as it is fun to play with Halloween art pieces and stamps. Happy October to you Elle. hugs-Erika
