Hi Friends!

Hope you are all doing well.  We have a Bank Holiday (Public holiday) today and the sun is shining so it’s off to a good start.  I would love to get out and do some work in my garden but alas I am still not able to do anything like that.  Still have the one crutch and still not heard back about my next appointment or who it will be with!  Anyway, let’s get on with the arty stuff!  Have you been watching/enjoying the free Mixed Media Expo run by Tamara Laporte?  There’s been a few good videos and some refreshing new faces.  I’m very excited for next week as my friend Heather is one of the teachers!  Here’s a link to the schedule where you can watch the daily videos – Neet, Diane Reaveley was on at the weekend in case you missed her!

Today’s art . . .

So here’s my May calendar page made with Neet’s theme of It Must Have Wings in mind. I am still working in my recycled A4 bullet journal, and painting over any pages that were previously used as such.   There are a LOT of wings, big and small, on this page.  You can probably see the more obvious ones – the cat with wings, the birds, the butterflies, but if you look closer, you will see there is a long stamped image on each side of the calendar.  This is a butterfly washi tape style stamp and so it is covered in butterflies.

I started by painting over whatever was on that page so the whole thing was then blue, then I used a photocopy from an old calendar for my May calendar.  This one was from a 2016 December page but the dates and the days lined up so it works.  I added some scribbles, mark marking and some background stamping across the page.  I stamped out my images on some mixed media paper, fussy cut them and added touches of colour to some of them.

Here’s a closer look at each corner of the spread so you can get a better look at the details.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Sorry I missed this earlier. You put my calendar pages to shame. Love the recycling you used, too. Thanks for sharing this at AJJ using Neet’s theme.

Oh Elle, what a shame you are still having to use a crutch. I hope it gets sorted before too long, it’s gone on for ages now.
Sorry you cannot get outside with all this lovely weather but thank you for entering in with the challenge at AJJ whilst you are indoors. That is a very strong page with that bright blue border and I love it. Love all the winged figures around the border. A firm favourite is your cat!
Love the bold lettering for the month an the birds and butterflies.
Thanks so much for joining us at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx

This is a fun calendar with some really fun images. I like the winged kitty. The bird images look familiar, but I know I don’t have them. I must have been thinking about them or liking them which I do. I like how you used some bold colors and left some things in white. It makes a nice contrast. Sorry to read you’re still waiting to hear back on your knee. You must be getting anxious to get something done about it. And I didn’t know about those free classes. I’m not very good at keeping track of those types of things, sadly. Thanks for joining Neet’s challenge at AJJ. And happy new week to you. hugs-Erika
