Hi Friends and Happy December!
So here we are a month since my last post, shocking really. I am a bad blogger and my art table is gathering dust too! I just haven’t been feeling that motivated. As for my knee, well I finally saw an orthopedic consultant – this has taken nearly two years – and turns out I do not have a torn meniscus nor a patella femoral joint injury which is what I have been told since day one. Bah humbug! Looks like I need an operation, but there are a lot of things to consider and also first he is referring me to a foot and ankle expert as I have a severe issue on my other side that needs attention more than my knee if you can believe that! It’s frustrating as if I had been referred to orthopedics at the beginning, the operation would have been done and I would have been back to normal well over a year ago! So I am not thinking about it until after Christmas/New Year ( la la la not listening). And yes I still have the crutch, I am forgetting what it is like to walk normally! I am not a happy bunny.
Anyway, enough moaning (I have been feeling a bit sorry for myself this last week or so since my appointment), I finally made my calendar and my Christmas cards, and keep reading for a special treat!
Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is my calendar page for December – how useful considering we are halfway through the month! LOL Anyway, I’m just glad to have completed a page. It is actually made up of all the leftover bits from my Christmas cards. It uses some left over papers from my collaged cards so I made a collaged page from them, with winter themed imagery, trees, winter words etc, and if you are wondering what language that is, it’s Scots Gaelic. (It says merry christmas and happy new year). This is of course also a page for Sharon’s lovely Winter theme on AJJ – I’m so sorry Sharon, I wanted to make lots of pages for your theme as I love a winter theme, but it’s not looking good so far. I also planned to join in with Art Journal Advent, Dephemerember and Care December as usual but after printing out all the prompts in November, I have achieved nothing. I decided the best care I could take of myself in December was to give myself a break and less stress, and also the priority was to get the Christmas cards out and posted. It seemed selfish to spent time playing in my art journal when the cards hadn’t even been made, never mind posted. There is definitely something to be said for making in them in August but that’s just not me. All things being well, I will try and share them in another post next week.
T Stands For Kitty Cat Cafe
So here is the special treat I promised at the top of the post! We now have a cat cafe locally!!! It opened last year but of course due to the knee/crutches/driving issues I was not able to go, so since I was feeling so miserable after my hospital news last week, I decided to treat myself to a visit to the cat cafe. Here follows a lot of photos of cats, look away now if you aren’t interested, but who wouldn’t be interested in MULTIPLE CATS?

Let’s start with the basics, a cat cafe is a cafe that has a lot of cats living there and they roam about freely. It is not a cafe where you bring your own cat (believe me some people have asked this). As a concept it started in Japan, but it has quickly spread to other countries and now we even have one locally, in the town closest to where I live (approx 8 miles away). If you are allergic to cats, this is probably your worst nightmare, but if you are a cat lover like myself, it is probably your idea of heaven. 🙂 It was so nice to be surrounded by so many cats, and also to see them all getting along together. I have always liked the idea of having more cats, maybe seven or eight, but they would all have to get along, and my current cats barely get along with each other as it is without adding more to the family! So if you fancy the idea of being surrounded by lovely cats, then you need a visit to the cat cafe!

Yes the cats are free to chill on the counter. There are three of them up there in the above photo but the grey one is harder to spot.

These four lovely kitties are waiting for treats to be dispensed.

They have a total of 18 cats in residence at the moment and for the size of the premises, they are allowed up to 20 cats. They have all sorts of cats here…
Long hair, short hair, no hair! All the colours, black, white, ginger, grey, multicoloured/calico, tabby, tuxedo, etc

Moggies (domestic shorthair) or pedigree like this British Blue (grey) below.

This little girl curled up happily on my lap for a snooze while I had my coffee…

While this fluffy girl decided to make a nest in my coat and take a nap…
And here is my decaf soy latte for T this week also! My cats are not interested in human food but some of these little monkeys are, so you do have to keep an eye on your drinks and cakes as they are all on strict prescription vet food and a lot of people food is not good for cats. So what do you think of cat cafes? Have you been to one? Would you like to? I was talking to a friend about it, and how it is a uniquely cat thing, can you imagine a dog cafe? That would be loud! The cat cafe is peaceful and quiet with the sound of gentle purring. That was my first visit but I have already been back again yesterday, it could be my new favourite place!
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Nobody needs that, you poor thing with your knee!
I hope you find a solution for it in the new year!
A lovely calendar page for December with a winter theme.
What a great cat café that is, and to see all those cats!
hugs Elke
I do love cats and I would quite happily go to a cat café. It would be very relaxing I think. . I know they have them in Japan (But I’ve never been to Japan)
What a bummer about your diagnosis. But, on the plus side, now you know and you can start the process of getting things sorted.
Stay positive!
Happy (belated) T-Day,
Lisca
Good luck with getting the right diagnosis and medical care!
Blogging is supposed to be FUN, so no worries.
YIKES about your knee! (you say humbug, too?!) – that all really sounds terrible and reminds me of the drama with my arm.
So much for the “Gods in white”…. I hope you get proper help soon and can throw that crutch away!
At least you could make me laugh with the calendar!
Oh, a cat cafe!!! Bring your own cat?! Hello? D’oh!
Speaking of, in Perth (we head to end of January) there is a cat-receptionist at the vet!
I always wanted a cat. My Mom didn´t like cats, I got a dog. Now Ingo doesn´t like cats – such a café would be a treat!
A dog café would be true horror for me – I am afraid of dogs…
Please keep posting pics of your new fav place – as long as you feel like blogging!
Wishing you all the best for your knee and all soon xx
That’s exactly how it is here with my health insurance. I need a referral to see someone, and if my doctor doesn’t think I need it, I don’t get one. I assumed that’s what you meant, but I’m glad you clarified it. health insurance coverage varies all over the place.
I forgot to say thanks for joining Sharon at AJJ. It is much appreciated. And I did love seeing the cats at the cafe too. It was fun!
That cat cafe must have cheered you up. I went to one in Japan back in 2018 which was fun. And I hear they opened one in a town somewhat local to me and the cats are all up for adoption so they change as people bring them home. That’s a cool idea definitely. And I would have been practically shut down with that news too. That’s a long time to wait and even longer that no one told you to go see a different doctor. I hope you have a great Christmas and New Years and then move forward to get off the crutches. Happy T day. hugs-Erika
Oh my, Elle! My heart goes out to you, and I can relate to what you’re going through. I was so frustrated too, because my husband went through this kind of thing two years ago after being told his leg pain was just from his back. But after a second opinion, they found out it wasn’t his back at all – it was his hip! He had hip surgery and that’s all fixed, but now his knee is causing excruciating pain. So it seems like you and he are both going through a similar situation. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers, my friend!
About your art…I absolutely adore your calendar! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful art with all of us. It is absolutely beautiful!! And please don’t apologize about not creating more. I totally get it! And I understand! YOU and your health come first!!!
And I loved reading about and seeing your beautiful photos at the Kitty Cat Cafe! They were just too cute!
Thank you, Elle! I hope you find all the answers you need to feel better in the new year. Sending you lots of hugs!
