Happy new month everyone!
I can’t believe it’s December already, this latter half of the year just seems to fly by doesn’t it? First some good news, if you were following my post yesterday, Miss P is back in the house safe and sound, though she is not happy and has some issues with the new doors so it will be a period of readjustment for her and it might take some time. I think it’s a bit like when you move home and the cats have to get used to a new place, except we haven’t moved lol.
Since it is the very first day of the month, I am excited to share my DT inspiration project for December at More Than Words with you.
This month’s challenge is all about SEASONS so pick your favourite season and join in! It’s the most wonderful time of the year so perhaps this is your favourite season, or maybe there is something to be appreciated in all the seasons, it’s up to you.
For my project I started off with a reject page from two years ago – literally the December 2021 challenge! The problem was that my white pigment inkpad was far too juicy and the stamping failed and I couldn’t use the page. I had to make a new page for that challenge which you can see here. The only way to really save this page, was to paint over it. I used more Paperartsy paints in various blues – China, Southern Skies and Twilight.
I also found a leftover piece of watercolour card coloured with Paperartsy Infusions – I had made a lot of Christmas card with this last year. How funny to use leftover elements from December 2021 and December 2022 to make a December 2023 project!
The main image of the mushrooms is a freebie from @LuiseHeinzl for #Dephemerember challenge this month. I love the mushrooms and wanted to use them on another project. I used a leftover blue tag cut in half and stamped with Paperartsy stamps (lynne Perrella image and Alison Bomber autumn word stamps) and then used some mushrooms and words from a Katzelkraft stamp set that is all about mushrooms and has mushroom names too like Morel, Chanterelle etc which I also stamped on my page.
To get from there to here, I first painted over the bad stamping.
I still liked the idea of the dark blue night sky and wanted to keep it so I used the same colours, then used some tissue paper that had gold stars on a blue cloudy background on it over the top of the page. Since I have this night sky with stars background I am also joining Art Journal Journey’s December challenge of Above us only sky hosted by Wendy K from Wendy’s Craft Journal. Hopefully there is enough night sky with stars here to qualify.
The I found this leftover card front from last year’s Christmas cards and thought the colours worked (Infusions). I loved the idea of adding an other piece of sky as all these Infusions pieces I made last year were like streaky sunrises and landscapes. Then I added the free mushroom printable and did some scribbling and doodling on top including the white dots on the mushroom caps.
I stamped on this blue tag and then cut it in half to use top and bottom of my page. I love this bird postage stamp stamp and the seasonal quote stamp.
I added the other half of the tag to the bottom of the page. You can see the shine on the gold star tissue paper clearly in this photo.
I added the other piece of infusions card to this side of the page, added some mushroom stamping, and then did some seasonal journalling around the page with a white pen.
I hope you can join in this month, there’s a great prize up for grabs (see below). Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!Ingredients
recycled journal page, fresco chalk paint, posca pens, glue, stazon ink, infusions, paperartsy and katzelkraft stamps, free printable, white pen, tissue paper, matte medium

What a fabulous page Elle! I love the fungi and the LP images against the blue sky you created. Rather strangely these two LP stamps turned up while having a tidy – both back on their backing card now! Thanks for sharing at AJJ and Wendy’s theme, hugs, Chrisx
So beautiful, you salvaged that past page so well Elle, those wee mush look delicious and delightful against the gorgeous blue background. So much to take in, the vintage vibe really draws in my eye. Looks like a great challenge.
Happy creative December Hugs Tracey x
Fabulous page, love all the different elements you have used, thank you for joking us on Art Journal Journey.
You have a great new challenge at More Than Words. I like how it works with Wendy’s new challenge at AJJ. And your autumn page is really lovely and I see sky. Autumn skies have their own look don’t they? I’m also glad to hear Miss. P is home and inside. Changes can be just as tough on animals as they can be on people. Happy December, and thanks for joining us for Wendy’s AJJ challenge. hugs-Erika
Hi Elle, this is a gorgeous page, with so many layers. I love it. Thanks for joining us at J for Wendy’s challenge!
