Hello friends!

I’m thinking it’s probably safe enough to share these cards now as they have probably been received by now or nearly.  In any case the recipients most likely will not be reading the blog so we should be good.

today’s art . . .

Today’s offering are these very quick and simple cards, at least they would have been if I hadn’t decided to make so many. Since I was so very behind with all my xmas making (due to sick kitties mainly) my brain was telling me simplicity was key – make backgrounds add diecuts on top, get them posted, job done. Now bear with me as there are quite a few photos because the backgrounds are just so pretty.  I’ll do them in groups to make it easier 🙂

These three cards are cut using the same die panel, and the Infusions backgrounds are made with Sleight Blue which is one of my favourites.  I really love how these look a bit like country landscapes. The one on the left looks like a river flowing downhill, the one in the middle, mountains, and the one on the right, a country track heading uphill.  Click the thumbnails to see the full size images.

My plan (for speed due to postal strikes and mail delays etc) was to diecut a lot of elements in white and then add them to colourful backgrounds

– and for this I chose Paperartsy Infusions, but it could just as easily have been Distress Oxides or even watercolour to achieve a similar look, though it doesn’t quite move the same way.

It seemed like I was diecutting for days but really it was only just the afternoon haha.  I did that while the Infusions were drying on the watercolour paper so the prep work got done (multitasking) and then I could sit down and put it all together.

It’s funny, I originally planned to do all the backgrounds with the blue since I was thinking of a more traditional winter colour look but then I made some backgrounds with the orangey-pink and the browns and I was really happy with how they turned out.  Let’s hope the recipients are similarly happy and also that the cards arrive before Christmas as these mail strikes are really causing havoc with Christmas mail!
