Time to make another birthday card and you might remember these Altenew Strength Blooms flowers…
from my Spring Cards post. I stamped them, I die cut them, and then I didn’t use them! They went into my stash but now they get to be used along with these Altenew Layered Plaid cover die pieces that I also didn’t use.
It’s a two-piece set, one die cuts the above plaid and the second die cuts the one below
You can use them separately or layer them on top of each other to get the layered plaid look as you can see below.
I cut them from some of my favourite Dylusions Ink backgrounds. I really love the colour combination!
Ok, so now I have these pieces and I have to make a card for my mother TODAY!!! Talk about leaving it till the last minute! Sometimes though, I wait around for inspiration to strike instead of just making something, so here we are pressed for time and needing a card ASAP.
So really, what I end up doing is dragging out all my bits and pieces that I have already stamped, cut, and stashed, and just play around with them until something clicks. In this case I was looking at the teal flowers against the lattice-looking plaid die cuts. I am also trying to guess if it is something that my mother would like! That is VERY important!
I added in a Mega Hello white foam die cut. Hmmm…
Then I added in a pink Strength Blooms flower – hmmm, not quite right.
Hmmm, how about a kitty? You can’t go wrong with a kitty, in fact she would probably be pretty disappointed if the card was lacking a cat lol. Honestly I think it looks better sans cat but I am thinking about the recipient here.
And since there’s a kitty on the outside, better add some to the inside yeah? This is a Distress Oxide background I did a while ago, and pulled out of my stash. I like the colours. Let’s use that pink flower we didn’t decide to use on the outside!
Just a couple of quick stampings and decoration on the envelope. I really love this little I Made a Thing stamp set from The Ink Road. I do wish that people would keep the cards forever after all the work and thought that goes into making handmade cards v store bought cards.
So what was the verdict? She loved it – the colours, the flowers and the cats, so job done 🙂
