Yay! It’s my favourite time of the year (almost) and so it’s time to make the next set of Halloween cards.  You can see the first set of cards by clicking here to see Halloween Shaker Cards and the Zombie Apocalypse cards here.

There were so many fun products in my hands, I just really wanted to use them all, so in the end I made three different types of Halloween card, and this post is about the third card design.

I started by stamping and colouring in the Crazy Cats and Crazy Things stamps, and then die cutting them – thankfully I have the matching dies for those!

As you can see in this photo, I stamped and cut out a LOT of bits and pieces, including a few that I didn’t end up using at all in any of the cards.  The Monstrous stamps I really planned to use but then went off in a different direction, so I can save them for another project.

I made three Distress Oxide backgrounds, and I wanted to stick to “Halloween” colours but also was very conscious of the recipients of these particular cards and their favourite colours, which is why there is a lot of purple involved lol.

After the backgrounds were dry, I started to arrange the cats and bits and pieces on them and I was trying to keep the cats in the same colour families on each card and in the same placement, plus make sure they looked good on the backgrounds.  Now what would have made this easier is if I had planned this out in advance when I was colouring in the cats, but I didn’t think about the final placement of the cats so I was lucky to be able to get two cards with identical placement and for the third card, I had to use a different cat, which turned out great because he’s so cute!  I also diecut the little Trick or Treat from an older set and thought about how to position it on the cards.

While I was contemplating how to finish the outsides, I worked on the insides, using more Crazy Cats, Pumpkinhead pumpkins, Happy Halloween sentiments and the cute little spider in its web, and using complementary coloured paper from my stash.

These cats crack me up, how they look like they are eyeing those pumpkins with a great deal of suspicion lol.

I remembered I had bought some glow-in-the-dark embossing powder specifically for Halloween but then had put it away and completely forgotten all about it – so glad I remembered it now or I would have been kicking myself later!  And the Crazy Halloween Cat cards are done!

And now I have nine finished Halloween cards ready for posting overseas and delivering locally.

Glow-in-the-Dark Embossing Powder – Lawn Fawn – Still waiting to hear if the glow in the dark embossing powder works or not.  It was very faint when I tested it but I think it needs a day of full daylight to get “charged” up and I made the cards at night.
