Hi Friends!  I have another art journal spread to share today. I really enjoyed this one, as I guess I enjoy all of them since that is the point lol but the colours are my kind of colours so I just loved working with them.

The Finished Spread

I am using my Finnabair Mixed Media Journal for this one, spiral bound, so it is really easy to add and remove pages to work on them.

The Process

I started off by covering the pages with a layer of transparent gesso, and then applying some of my favourite Georgia Blues paper to the pages.  Once that was dry, I painted a layer of Azure Impasto paint on top, covering most of the page.

After that was dry, I applied Paper Texture Paste through the Swirly Florals stencil randomly across the pages and left it to dry.

I started applying blue and violet liquid acrylics to the page and spraying them with water and allowing them to run down the page.  Then I randomly stamped the background with various butterflies and dragonflies and text from Finnabair stamps, using Distress Archival in Black Soot.  Then I added the obligatory splatters in black and white.

I have these fabric flowers that I dislike the colour of and so I decided to paint them using the same liquid acrylics as the background.  I got a little carried away doing this as it was such a fun thing to do and ended up painting about 100 flowers in multiple colours! I’m so disappointed to have lost the photos of these flowers and this process. For a previous project I had diecut some leaves from gold glitter cardstock and didn’t end up using them so I thought I could apply them to this spread.  I also diecut some Flourish pieces from the Bigz die witht he same gold glitter cardstock, and began to play around with the various elements. I had already cut the Create and Love words and wanted to use them in this piece but there was still something missing.  Finally I  added the DREAM letters diecut from Tim Holtz Society Bigz XL die, in white card with a deep black outline around them.  I also stamped the Dream definition stamp from Visible Image Stamps to use in the centre. The large white cardboard flowers are cut from Tattered Florals Bigz XL die but I didn’t use them in the end, opting instead for some Prima white paper flowers.

I added some moulded flowers and painted them with Plum Preserves Metallique paint, and started to arrange everything on the page, before gluing everything down using 3D matte medium to ensure everything stayed in place. Once everything was dry, I added Violet Glass Glitter on some of the flowers and some crystal brads to some of the flower centres.  The last thing to do was position the Dream definition card in the centre.

And that is the finished spread.  I also ended up making two cards using a similar process one of which you can see in this photo.  To read more about the cards, you can find them here and here.
