Hi Friends! I have another art journal spread to share today. This one is using the Prima Apricot Honey Collection papers and flowers and I love how it turned out!
The Finished Spread
I am using my Finnabair Mixed Media Journal for this one, spiral bound, so it is really easy to add and remove pages to work on them.
The Process
I started off by covering the pages with a layer of transparent gesso, and then applying some of this gorgeous Apricot Honey paper to the pages. Once that was dry, I painted some Linen Impasto paint on top, then randomly applied some paper texture page to the page through the Finnabair ornate lace stencil and left that to dry.
After that was dry, I started applying magenta liquid acrylics to the page and spraying them with water and allowing them to run down the page. OMG this was a bit of a surprise as I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but it looks amazing!
Then I randomly stamped the background with various butterflies and and the pretty lady and text from Finnabair Beautiful Story stamps, using Distress Archival in Black Soot. Then I added the obligatory splatters in black and white and more random magenta because I was really loving it.
So then I started playing around with various elements on the page including some of the recently painted fabric flowers that I ended up not using on this spread, and some of the Prima Apricot Honey flowers that I did end up using because it made sense to use the flowers from the same paper collection! I kept the moulded butterfly but discarded the moulded crown, though now looking at this photo, I wonder if I should have kept it on the lady, but it was getting a bit busy once I added the cards. The Weathered Clock die cut, was almost used in another project, but I went in another direction which meant it was available for this one, so I painted it black and cut it in half so I could fit it on both pages.
Remember You Are Enough
I also diecut some Flourish pieces from the Bigz die and sprayed them with Distress Spray in Metallic Bronze and then glued everything down using 3D matte gel and left it to dry. Once everything was dry, I made journal cards from the reverse side of the Apricot Honey paper and used a sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamps You Are Enough stamp set, stamping it with Versamark and Wow black embossing powder and positioned them on the page.
And that is the finished spread. I also ended up making a card using a similar process and papers which you can see in this photo, though the card ended up being more pink.
