I have another card to share today. This one currently has no intended recipient but I’m sure it will have one soon.

The Finished Card

This is another easel style card, using Prima papers (Midnight Garden) and featuring a mixed media background like the other card you can find in this post.

The Start of the Card

I had decided to make two more cards for forthcoming birthdays, the one on the right is using Prima paper from Midnight Garden and the one on the left is using a scrap from Prima Apricot Honey collection paper. Both cards have liquid acrylics on them, and stenciling using the Passiflora Stencil and paper texture paste.  They both have random black stamping on them and paint splatters (unfortunately the pink card also has a big green unintentional splatter that has dripped from another project I was working on, but I knew I could cover it up so it was OK).  I worked on both these cards at the same time as they both used similar techniques but I will only be talking about the green card today.

Decoration

After the backgrounds were done, I started playing around with some elements I had available, mostly Tim Holtz die cuts that I had recently created and painted.  I was keen to use this green background with the rest of the leaves I had die cut and painted, along with this die cut stag, to make a card for my friend’s birthday, and even looking at the photo now, I love how that could have looked and have filed that idea away for later because, I ended up going in a completely different direction as you can see from the finished card.  I ended up using the Visible Image Stamp set – Mindful Moments – stamping with Versamark ink and heat embossing with Wow embossing powder in gold.  It worked very well even over the parts that had been stencilled with paper texture paste!  Then once it was all dry I sat down to add some extra dimension and highlights with my Polychromos. I added a white outline on the outside of the gold embossing and a thinner black outline on the inside of the embossing.  I love how it looks like she is glowing!

Construction

I decided to mount my card panel on a piece of white card that I had painted very quickly with Unicorn Hair metallique paint by Finnabair I only painted around the edges where it would show.  I then made a matching journal card sized piece for the inside and painted it too, adding another piece of Midnight Garden paper to it and painting it to match, and distressing all the edges with black soot.  Then I took the easel card base I had made, and glued the front and inside pieces to it, making sure all the edges matched and the card could stand up
