I know what you’re thinking – how many WIP projects can one person have going on at the same time? Well the answer is… about 47 – not really lol but it might seem that way at the moment because of my new brilliant plan to post up WIP before they become finished projects. This is not really a WIP so much as it is a fill-in project that I am doing while I am waiting for other things to dry, set up etc. There is a lot of that goes on with mixed media especially, so in order to not waste time, I fill in the gaps by starting other projects like this one. I used white cardstock, watercolour paper and coloured cardstock scrap pieces to cut out as many flowers and leaves as I could from what I had.
So this is a Sizzix Bigz die that I have had for a while and I think it is still available. It’s called Tattered Floral BUT I have a special version of this die that also includes leaves and this one is called Jumbo Tattered Floral Bigz XL and came out around 2014. The regular Tattered Floral Bigz does not include leaves. Regular Tattered Florals die on the left, Jumbo Tattered Florals die on the right.
I used Vintage Photo on the white card, Picked Raspberry on the pink card, Seedless Preserves on the purple card, Fossilized Amber on the yellow card and Peeled Paint on the green card. I have the mini ink cubes so it was very easy just to run them around the edges of each petal and leaf. Then spritz them with water and scrunch them up and leave them to dry overnight.
What you get is something like you see above, and then all you have to do is peel them open, and assemble them into flowers to your liking. I planned to use these flowers on one project but they ended up being used in multiple projects which you can see below.
UPDATE: No longer a WIP as I have used most of these flowers and leaves in other projects here, here and here.
