Hey cat loving friends, it’s been a little while since my last cat card but I couldn’t resist this sweet little cat from Heffy Doodle. I bought the stamp set and the matching die set, which stamps out the kitty, the basket, the yarn ball and the sentiment. The die cuts out the kitty, basket and yarn ball.
The Card Idea
I had the idea of the kitty sitting in a window looking out at the mewniverse (AKA the night sky) so I started by painting this galaxy background on watercolour paper using some Distress inks and left it to dry. Then I starting thinking about what to do about a window and I was going to just draw one, then I thought of using the new Tim Holtz Bigz window die but that was too small to show much of the background, and then I remembered this larger window die and decided it was “just right”. This whole process was starting to sound like Goldilocks and the porridge lol. Then I tried various cardstock colours before finally settling on white so that the window would blend in more, because the focus of the card is not the window but the kitty and the sky.
Stamped out the kitty, basket and yarn balls a few times and then spend some enjoyable time colouring them in with my polychromos before cutting them out using the matching die set. Then I made the card base, and glued everything in place, before stamping out the sentiment, and the card was complete!
