Hi Friends!

Today I have another card to share.  This time I am again using my stash and upcycling skills to make this card.

Inspiration

I took my inspiration from an Altenew class called Polychromatic, which is one of their Level 2 classes and all about colour.  Each lesson features a different technique and I was inspired by the monochrome lesson (using one colour or shades of one colour) and decided to feature this idea for my card. I wasn’t sure what I was going to make until I found this in my stash. Strangely enough, these were done in May 2019, but I didn’t like the one on the right so I never used it.  It popped up in my stash during my recent reorganisation so I wondered if I could possibly make it into something that I actually liked, and at the same time, use something in my stash, and make it useful.

Overview of my card process

Since I would be watercolouring over the existing watercolour, I chose a colour that should be able to blend in and cover the old colours – a blend of Crimson and Rubellite. It took a little time and a few layers but it’s hard to believe that it is the same piece!

I left it to dry and then painted another piece of watercolour paper with the same colours and after it was dry, I die cut it using Bold Alpha dies to cut the word BEAUTY.

Once the watercolour paper was dry, I ironed it to get it flat again as I needed to stamp it again, this time with Rose Gold ink.  Because it was ironed flat again, I had no problems lining it up in my Stamp Platform and stamping it with the metallic ink.

Once everything was dry, I decided that everything could do with a lift, so I painted the edges of the all the letters and the card using a gold ink.  After leaving it to dry once more, I was able to adhere the letters to the bottom of the card and then the card front onto the white card base.

Thoughts

I forgot to mention above that the stamp set I am using here is the Mega Succulent background stamp, which you would normally expect to be coloured in green succulent colours, but I wanted it to look like a flower, so I used rose colours as I think it could also work as the inside petals of a double rose, a bit like this one. I think I want to make more monochrome projects after this one, I really love how it turned out, especially comparing it to how it started.

Mega Succulent or Double Rose Beauty?

I hope you enjoyed reading about this card and that you find inspiration from it.
