Hi Friends!

Today I have a bright, happy summer card for you today.  I’m calling this one Hello Sweet Summer because of all the flowers and citrus and happy colours 🙂

I started by stamping out and heat embossing the little lemon and orange slices using Versamark and white embossing powder from Wow on to some HP watercolour paper.  Then I spent some happy time dropping various Daniel Smith colours onto the wet paper. This is one of my favourite things to do 🙂

I also took some white Prima paper flowers and painted them with the same watercolours.  I actually made three of these backgrounds so then I had to choose which one I wanted to use for my card.  I fussy cut some of the orange slices from one of the other unused backgrounds, and then I die cut some of the segments using the die from the set (these look like little wheels with spokes).  Then after everything was dry, I laid it all out on the background to work out my placement.  This die set also has the scripty words happy and sweet, so I cut them out of some black card scraps.

Then it was time to start assembling the card. I popped the orange segments up on some foam squares and glued the sentiment on top, with some of the little wheels tucked in behind them.  I glued all the flowers down, and added a few of the wheels and some black die cut letters and punctuation to balance the black sentiment.  Final touches – adding some pink/gold metallic paint to the flowers and some gold and black splashes to the background, then edging the card with the same pink/gold metallic paint and called it done!

And that’s it!  Thanks for reading, let me know what you think of Hello Sweet Summer.  I’m off to make a cuppa!
