Happy Sunday! I got to spend some time in my studio today and got one more page done for this month as well as some of my ATCs for the #100dayproject.
I found this page in a larger journal and I have no idea what I put on the background, some kind of spray but not sure what. it also didn’t move when I added water so I wondered if I added something on top. So I added some neocolours to the background, just scribbling them on and activating them. Then I added the feather stamp in black, and then some gold acrylic to drip down the page.
The quote is of course from one of Emily Dickinson’s most famous poems, probably a bit over-quoted but still one that I like.
I also added some white paint splatters as it was looking a bit dark and needed some white to brighten it up.
A few days ago I created these metallic birdcages which I thought were perfect to add to my page with the quote and the feathers.
Here’s a closer look at some of the metallic elements shining as this page is also for Art Journal Journey’s Heavy Metal theme this month.
And that’s the finished page. Wish I could remember what I used on the background, Oxide sprays maybe? I really like the colours together.

It appears I have missed this entire month of visiting you, Elle. I was either sick, having surgery, recovering, getting infection from the surgery, spending time in the hospital as a result of the infection, and finally, upon my return from the hospital was without electricity due to a rolling blackout in my city.
Your use of the metallic cages go so very well with the feathers and the lovely quote. I found your background lovely, too. But most of all, the entire spread was super precious and perfect for Valerie’s theme at Art Journal Journey. Again, I apologize for missing so much of your art this month.
Elle, the gold is really pretty on this great spread. Love your colors and details! I never tire of those words – they are so positive. Well done!!!!
Glad you managed to squeeze this in before the end of the month Elle. I love those gold bird cages. Thanks for all your pages this past month, including this one. Hope we’ll see you again in March. Hugs-Erika
Hi Elle, what a fantastic journal spread, full of beauty. I always love feathers and the quote is wonderful, too. Thanks for your support in my heavy metal challenge at AJJ this month, much appreciated! Have a great, new week, Valerie
