Hello friends,
Happy new week. We have a sick kitty so I have been on kitty watch. I guess though that cats have been on my mind even more than usual so I have another cat-inspired page to share…
today’s art . . .
This one was done yesterday (Sunday) and I wanted to see just how few supplies I could use on this page.
All of the black bits on the page are done with a Pitt artist brush pen. Then I used a green one for the eyes and a yellow one for the beaks, a while gel pen for all the white bits and then the background of the page is done with a blue Tombow marker and a water brush. The quote at the top is written with a regular black pen. So a total of six different pens and a water brush – I think that qualifies as minimal supplies lol.
I love blackbirds so I wanted my little black birds to be Blackbirds with very yellow/orange beaks. Much as I love them, I’m really hoping they don’t eat all my blueberries this year. I don’t mind sharing but last year they ate them all and I got about three lol.
I was thinking about this quote because my kitty is poorly and she absolutely did not hide her feelings at the vets that’s for sure. But generally I think you always know where you stand with a cat, don’t you think?
Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenges this month.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
my handmade journal, watercolour paper, just six pens – see above for details.

What a cute kitty. I hope your sick kitty is doing better by the time I write this post. I think you did well sticking to a limited color palette and yet it doesn’t feel like you used limited colors. Thanks again for joining us at AJJ for Matilde’s challenge. So well wishes for your kitty too. Hugs-Erika
OMGoodness. I am in LOVE with this spread, Elle. It is wonderful and your black cat is beautiful. But I really LOVE the blackbirds with their bright orange beaks. Stunning and lovely art. Thanks for sharing this really inspiring spread with us at Art Journal Journey using Matilde’s theme.
