Hello friends,
For the new Art Journal August challenge I thought I would make a new journal specifically just for August. I don’t usually work this way but I liked keeping the journal for Junk Journal July last month so I thought I would try it again.
I made my journal in the same way as I usually do.
I fold this watercolour paper in half to make the signatures.
Then join the signatures together using masking tape so it ends up looking like this.
I’m using the watercolour pad that got covered in turquoise acrylic a couple of months ago when I spilt a whole bottle of it all over everything!
Normally I make my covers from old amazon boxes but for this journal I thought I would use this watercolour piece that I cut down to size.
Normally I add tape to the spine but this time I wanted to use this ribbon.
I really liked the reverse side of this ribbon so I went for that instead of the front side. I made a short 40 second video showing how it looks inside and out. On the inside every second page has masking tape down the middle and every alternate page has none, which makes those pages great for any kind of wet media like watercolour since there are no holes or seams for it to escape into.
For the cover decoration I made a little pocket out a Schmincke paint box, and some watercolour leftovers. I added some washi stickers, a diecut plant and some bits and pieces.
in the pocket is this quote about August.
The journal has enough pages for every day of the challenge plus a few extras.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
