Hi Friends,
Happy Monday! I’m catching up with another page, this time it’s yesterday’s prompt. I did start it last night but too late for photos (too dark) So here is another page fresh of the art table…
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a page using my Day 16 prompt: Sleeping Beauty
As you know, I am not working or planning ahead, so for the sleeping beauty prompt I was thinking it could be something to do with sleeping or something to do with beauty, of of course, something to do with sleeping beauty but no real idea in mind. Then last night I was flicking through an old magazine looking for images of sleeping people, and I came across this image of the model strutting her stuff on the catwalk, wearing this weird visor thing on her face and it immediately made me think of “sleep masks” to block out the light when you are sleeping.
That’s probably not what the designer had in mind haha, but I decided to cut her out and use her for my sleeping beauty. I had already journalled on the page in pencil, so once she was dry, I painted around the page with neocolours, and then drew in the white leaves around the page. Some of the pencil journalling can still be seen through the neocolours.
So the story of my sleeping beauty is that she overslept by several hundred years instead of the just the one hundred years of the fairytale, and woke up in the future which was very bright and necessitated her using the visor for her very sensitive eyes. She sold off some of her royal jewels (including her crown) to buy the latest fashion so she could blend in with everyone else and strutted off holding her regal head high. She had no idea where she was going but she had no intention of waiting around for that Prince any longer!
Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge this month and have fun with it!
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Daily Prompts
Here are the prompts I will be using and you can probably tell that a lot of them are related to fairytales, but you don’t have to use them that way or you don’t have to use them at all. I will be attempting all 31 days but I may not make it and that’s OK too. The prompts are there if you feel stuck or in need of extra inspiration. I just respond well to a daily prompt and I will also be sharing my pages on Instagram. If you share your work on Instagram there is a hashtag. Please note, that to enter the Art Journal Journey challenge using the Mr Linky tool, you will have to link from a blog since it is a blog challenge.
Or you can ignore the daily prompts completely and focus on the overarching theme for the month. The daily prompts are there if you want to make more pages but need some extra prompting.
Ha! What a great take on the Sleeping Beauty tale! Love it!
Sleeping Beauty is also very fun Elle. I like the modern version of her. And pink/red is a fun color for this topic too. It seems appropriate. Hugs-Erika
Love this one! Who needs a prince (I was happy about mine, though, back then…)
