Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is my May calendar journal page but since the theme at AJJ is recycling and reusing, I thought I would also share this page before the end of April.  I actually made it and the April calendar page at the same time which was just as well considering how unproductive I’ve been this month.  This is my last page for the month, and I have really enjoyed the recycling theme as I love any excuse to recycle, reuse or repurpose materials in my journal.  I’m just sorry I haven’t been as active as I would have liked due to health reasons but I managed to get some pages done in the second half of the month as well as finishing off some journals from last year.  Thanks for choosing this theme Elizabeth (and Bleubeard of course.)
This year I am repurposing an old A4 bullet journal as a calendar art journal.  A lot of the pages have been used previously so if they have, I either paint over them or cover them with paper.  This is one such page that had previously been used.  I painted over it and then redrew the calendar.

On the rest of the page, I used some wrapping paper that has roses and butterflies on it, and the two cherry blossom images on opposite corners, actually were part of the packaging for a box of incense sticks.  I fussy cut around the floral design and stuck them down on my page.

The rest of the space in between the incense box and the wrapping paper, is covered in finger-painted acrylic roses.  I finished off the page with some pink splatters and called it done.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading.

What a beautiful page Elle. It screams May and spring. I’m glad you decided to share this while Elizabeth’s challenge is still going on because it is really a lovely example of recycling. In the best way possible. Happy new month to you. I hope you have a wonderful May. hugs-Erika

April showers bring May flowers. I love how you recycled the really romantic looking flowers and cherry blossoms. Incense box, no less!! Just amazing. However, I was also taken by the finger roses. Never seen anything like that before, which sort of surprised me. Thank you for another incredible entry using Bleubeard’s and my theme at Art Journal Journey. This calendar spread rocks!
