Hi Friends!
Hope you are having a great week! I had yoga class yesterday and a walk on the beach so that was a pretty good day though my joints are aching – could be the cold weather. I spent ages watching the seals and then when I went to take a photo, they all disappeared under the water! Beach looked lovely though…
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a journal page Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – In Gear. This one was inspired by some Halloween cards I made at the weekend featuring some cute little Halloween kitties. I had some left over so I thought I would stick them on a page. The purple gears are also leftovers and so are the Halloween stickers.
I was thinking the ones on the left could be “before candy” and the ones on the right could be “after candy” where they have turned into spooky Halloween cats or maybe they are in spooky Halloween cat costumes! I used some of the fussy cut gears from the same stamp set as the steampunk butterfly set, but these are covered in Magenta Infusions.
The background for the page made with a few colours of Distress Ink, Peeled Paint was definitely one of them. Then I used this little Mini stamp from Paperartsy with some Verdant ink to stamp all over it. A few more splashes, splatters and drippy paint in various colours, then more of the puffy Halloween stickers I picked up from The Range, and I had also stamped some Halloween words on tissue paper for something else, so I used some of the leftovers on this page – the candy, bats, 31st, costumes, spooky, and trick or treat and stuck them down with matte medium. At some point soon I’m going to have to think about putting this journal together but for now the pages are still loose.
So this page was made with leftovers from making these cards:
and these cards:
Which started out looking like this:
Some were a loose style of watercolour and some were more contained. Here they are below, cut up and ready to add to card bases.
Of course Miss Lily was supervising and gave them two paws up in between trying to chew on the Halloween ribbons on the shelf!
More kitties on the inside too:
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

Art Journal Journey – In Gear
The kitties are adorable, and I love how the ones on the right are a tad bit fatter than on the left. I bet they enjoyed eating all their trick or treating treats. 🙂 And the background gears look great, as do the ones you die cut. I also want to say your cards are very cute too, and how fun to have left over kitties for your page. That’s smart thinking. Nice beach photo too. Too bad all the seals disappeared right when you went to snap the picture, but isn’t that what often happens. I saw a newsreel last night about how on the coast of NH our seal population is going up because at one point fishermen could shoot them so there were hardly any left. That’s very sad that it happened, and good that they are coming back. Have a super weekend and thanks for joining Neet’s challenge at AJJ. hugs-Erika
I see you have Posca pens.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.
Bravo!!! Some nice ones Elle
Much?love
Well, I certainly enjoyed seeing the process showing how you arrived at your journal page for my theme at AJJ. I love the cards you made, even the insides were beautifully decorated. Lucky recipients.
Good thinking on the ATC’s too, so glad you had some left over to make this journal page. You gave a lot of thought to the background and I loved seeing the subtle stamping that went on to make it along with the additional art you used.
I thoroughly enjoyed this post Elle and the journey I went on with you and your crafting.
Thanks – Hugs, Neet xx
