Hi friends!
Well here we are nearing another month and yes I am still on crutches! Is this a permanent thing you begin to wonder? Well, let’s hope not, but it sure seems like forever to me! They think my knee is improving. I am managing quite well on flat surfaces but still have problems with stairs. I was due to visit the dentist next week but there are a lot of stairs and no alternatives, it’s a very old building, so I had to cancel my appointment until I can manage the stairs.
Today’s art . . .
But look I made a journal page yesterday – standing up – because I still can’t get my leg under the table. The cats got some new cardboard scratchers and there are such pretty cats on the packaging that I couldn’t bear to throw it out. So I fussy cut around all the cats – 8 of them – and turned them into a page in my journal.
Miss Lily heard there was going to be some art happening finally and so she made sure she got into position ready to observe.
The background of my page is made from clean up sheets from some gel printing sessions I did months ago. I was wondering what to do with them so I did this.
This is a page made for the “What Makes You Happy” theme hosted by Matilde from Craftowanie on this month at Art Journal Journey. What makes me happy is of course CATS, but also gel printing and recycling and so all three feature on this page.
Woodland Wonders blanket so far. . .
We have now worked three week’s worth of the Woodland Wonders CAL blanket so here’s where we are now with the fourth part being released tomorrow. Week three added another row of leaves and a few other things, and then we created the fox square before joining all five squares together and joining them to the blanket. I love the trees and the field of bluebells especially and of course the little fox!
Currently Reading . . .
My current read/listen (book 79) is another one by Louise Penny. Yes I am working my way through the series. I read the first one back in January and then I went off and read 42 other books and didn’t really want to get back to this series as I wasn’t sure that I liked that first book all that much, and kept putting it off. However, last month I got back to it and started liking them more as the series progressed. I had also seen the TV show and that did cover the basic plots of the first few books, and I think I started enjoying them more once I hit new territory not covered by the show. I might be able to finish this one and possibly start another before the end of the month but I doubt it.

Kitty Updates . . .
Actually they are all doing well at the moment. Miss P came in on Tuesday with a bit of a strange cough/frog in her throat – and given there are actual frogs in the garden, it could have been, but I think it’s more likely that she’d been eating grass and some of it had got stuck in her throat somewhere. (My old cat Possum once sneezed and a great long piece of grass came out of her nose so they do need to be checked as it can be dangerous.)
Miss Lily is being her usual sweet, adorable self, and eager as I am to get back to the art table.
Mr G is also doing well, though less adorable. I have 15 puncture wounds on my hand to prove that. He was in a particularly bad mood recently, and I got all those wounds in one day! He has also been leaving me some hairball “gifts” which is odd considering they are on hairball control food! I don’t think that’s how it’s meant to work lol. But overall he is doing well, with occasional grumpiness. He is such a giant cat that it can be difficult to handle him when he’s in a mood. Here he is waiting for treats, like he deserves them!
Oh and finally, we are in strawberry season and my strawberry patch is right outside the back door so it’s easy for me to hobble out and pick some for breakfast. I really have to try and get to them before they ripen otherwise the garden critters beat me to it. But I got all of these this week, it’s just over a kilo! I don’t want to look beyond the patio as the rest of my poor unloved garden looks like a jungle.
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling and Happy Crocheting!

Art Journal Journey – What makes you happy – June challenge
Beautiful background at your page!
I always like reading your posts Elle because you seem to be up the most interesting things, even on crutches. Do they have any idea how long the healing will take? Your blanket is really lovely. I think that was a good choice to crochet. ARe you still doing your temperature blanket too? And your strawberries look amazing! (I just went and picked some at a local farm this morning-yummy). I love Louise Penny books. They have such great characters, even if they’re not wild adventures. Well, some of them get to be more adventures than others. And thanks for joining Matilde’s challenge. I love those background colors, and of course the kitties are perfect for you. I hope other than hobbling you continue to improve. hugs-Erika
Fabulous background for your rescued cat pictures. for Matilde’s theme on AJJ. I hope your knee improves quickly.
