Hi friends!

Well at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am still on crutches!  I have been doing more crochet on the couch, just keeping up with my temperature blanket and trying to keep myself busy.  I will not be doing ICAD this year, not possible from the couch! But I saw some information about a CAL (crochet-along)  that was starting this month so I decided to join in. It started on Friday 7th, and will go for six weeks, with one part of the pattern being released each week.  It’s for a beautiful blanket called Woodland Wonders by Coastal Crochet if you want to join in.  The pattern is free so you just need to supply the yarn.  I will add some photos of my progress at the end of this post, or you can see them on Instagram.

Today’s art . . .

I coloured the whole page using Woodys and used the crochet blanket pattern as the inspiration, so all the elements you see on the page are from the pattern.

I’m using a 4.5mm hook so I also included that on the page, down the left hand side.  As a LH crocheter, my hook is always on the left side.  Being LH makes it a little more interesting when following a pattern or a video as I have to reverse everything I read or see, a challenge sometimes but not impossible.

This month I am also joining Matilde from Craftowanie who is hosting this month at Art Journal Journey.  Matilde’s theme on AJJ this month is “What makes you happy” and what makes me happy especially at the moment is lots of CROCHET!  It really does make me happy, however, I have to be careful not to overdo it and take regular breaks or my hands start to complain.  I did start six days after the challenge started so I felt like I needed to catch up, and so I did do more crochet per day than I would normally and I felt it the next day.  Anyway, I’m caught up now and can take it easier and just do a little bit each day, it’s just such an interesting pattern, it’s hard to stop!

Woodland Wonders blanket so far

Here I am somewhere near the end of the week 2 part of the pattern.  I have actually got a little further than the above photo and have added more trees, and there are only about 4-5 rows left until I am ready for the next part (week 3).  The first week of the pattern goes up to the little autumn leaves that stick up along the blanket, and then week two starts more or less with the bluebells.  I especially love the little acorns that can be seen near the top edge.

There are also some blocks that will be added later on near the top of the blanket and so for week 1 we did the sunflower blocks, and for week 2 there are mushroom/toadstool blocks (which I haven’t started yet).

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling and Happy Crocheting!

That blanket is something else – WOW, I am well impressed with the crochet. A friend (Left handed) tried to teach me to crochet – we both gave up.
Still trying to work my way back to where you started off on crutches. Gentle hugs as always whilst you are like this.

This is one gorgeous blanket. I bet it will be amazing when you finish. And good idea to join a crochet challenge since you are doing so much of it. I’m sorry to read that you’re still on crutches. That stinks, I do like your calendar too. I love your inspiration for it…Thanks for joining Matilde’s challenge at AJJ. I hope you show more of your blanket too.. hugs-Erika
