Hi friends!
Hope your week is going well? Mine is so-so but we do have some dry, sunny weather this week so that makes a pleasant change. As for the crutches… yes I am still on crutches!!! That makes seven months so far. :/ I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth over on Tea Stands for Tuesday as they are featuring a birthday card I sent back in April, but the post office had defaced the stamps.
As per my Tea comment today, this is for Elizabeth. Here is a quote from the official help article: Blogger uses third-party cookies so you can comment from your Google Account. Today’s art . . .
Anyway, today I am sharing three cards that I made initially for the Sizzix #12daysofsizzix challenge over on Instagram. I am late with this as it started last week, but I love my Sizzix dies so I thought I would join in and try to catch up.
It is a Christmas themed challenge, as you can see from the prompts above, and I am six days behind lol.
The prompt for Day 1 was of course, cards, so I ended up making three of them using mostly the same dies in all three, but with some variations. Since Sizzix also make embossing folders, I also used three of my favourites in the backgrounds. I used metallic cardstock and white cardstock to cut the small words (peace and wish) and I heat embossed the large words (noel and joy) using TH embossing glaze – these photos have not captured the shininess of the glaze but if you are on Instagram, those photos did . The leaves on the first card and the feathers on the second card are cut from watercolour paper using Sizzix dies and coloured, but the gold flower and holly leaves on the third card are cut from the foil from a chocolate bar, also using a sizzix die.
If you are wondering what happened to the chocolate – I ate it – but if you are wondering what happened to the chocolate wrapper that covered the foil, you can see it in the first card along with a bit crinkle packaging paper that came in a box today. This background was gold metallic card, but I distressed it to make it look more grungy using various inks, stains and crayons.
Here’s another look at the other two cards…
The one on the left uses two embossing folders, the white section is made with one and the wood effect background is made with the second one. The card on the right uses all the chocolate foil either diecut into leaves and flowers, or along the edges of the background.
It might be time for some kitties to make an appearance. Mr G is on the left, enjoying his birthday present – that would be the box! Miss Lily of course is on the right, and if you are wondering what that red harness is doing there, well…
We went outside for a little while yesterday to enjoy the sun. Miss Lily’s murder mittens got a bit of a workout on my arm, as she got a bit panicky at first but then settled down to enjoy the sun. Miss P is on the right, and was none too impressed at the sight of “another cat” on her patio but everyone stayed at a minimum safe distance and I was the only injured party.
Since I am attempting to join the Tea ladies today, I had to dig around for a drink-related photo, and found this one…
I am also linking to Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge, link is below. Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Arting!

Love those Christmas cards – so hard to choose a favourite they are all so lovely. I’m loving all those backgrounds you’ve created with such a great use of texture and design. Thanks for sharing with us at Creative Artiste Mixed Media. Lovely to see the kitties too. My new girl Luna has made it downstairs after 3 months and is now sitting watching me type – small paw steps every day.
Oh those cards are really lovely. (I love my Sissix dies.
Great to see your lovely cats. Give them a good cuddle.
Happy (belated) T-Day,
Lisca
You are so lucky to have those dies and embossing folders.. I looked at the challenge and the only thing I have is a Christmas tree embossing folder. You have put your dies and folders to great use. Thanks for sharing these great cards, the mouse in the teacup, and the kitties with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle. And in case I didn’t say it before, thank you for the card and the added goodies you sent to make my birthday very special. And the stamps will soon find their way into my cat book I’m making.
Christmas already? Clever use of the foil, beautiful.
A cute cat-meet-up.
To the blogger-problem: works mostly like that, but not always. Despite I click “Allow” for google-account it wont work sometimes. Repeating a couple of times or trying another browser might help… Might.
It´s annoying.
Sometimes wait a while and try again…
Fabulous post! Loving all your cards and the little mouse in the teacup is adorable ?. Wishing you a happy T Day! Hugs. Jo x
Mr. G has quite the expression in that photo. It’s like you caught him doing something he didn’t want to see. grin. Those cards made with your Sizzix dies are lots of fun. Dies are lots of fun, aren’t they? They definitely open up more Arty tools. I hope you enjoy some more nice weather and that it was a great T day too. hugs-Erika
your cards are pretty and show that Christmas is coming… I don’t know about the geese getting fat, but we did have some Christmas cookies that were on the shelf at the supermarket. They were clearly dated for this year, so they weren’t stale. Each one has a wreath or a tree stamped on it. Seemed like fun. Now it’s time for Halloween?
best,
