Hi Friends!
Happy Halloween or Happy Thursday if you don’t enjoy Halloween! Yesterday the kittens had to go for annual check up and vaccinations (OMG it was so expensive compared to last year!). I mentioned my back being seized up so this was very difficult since I can’t bend, but they took pity on me and I was able to get them into their baskets reasonably easy without having to chase them around the house. Then my BIL carried them to the car and drove us to the vet. I went out in my SLIPPERS because I couldn’t bend to put my shoes on! The kittens are both doing really well, Miss Lily has a tooth resorption issue unfortunately, and two of her teeth have already gone so no treatment is necessary but we do need to keep an eye on her in case it happens to more teeth. She has gained a tiny amount of weight (she’s 5.2kg) which is good as I was worried she wasn’t eating enough, and Mr G has also gained a little weight – though he does NOT need to! – and he is now 7.8kg (a little over 17lb).
He’s a big cat, not a fat cat, and he has IBD but that seems to be under control and he can at least enjoy his food and he’s able to digest it well, hence the weight gain. At eight years old, they are now considered senior kitties, though they definitely don’t act their age!
Anyway, I have a few things to share today, so let’s get on with it as I can’t sit for long with this brace on my back…
Today’s art . . .
First up I have my last page to share for Art Journal Journey and Alison/Craftytrog with her theme of “Autumn Colours and Inspiration“. Thanks Alison, I’ve really enjoyed the theme and was happy to be able to join in a few times this month. You can probably see there are a few recycled elements on this page including some food packaging! There’s a label I peeled off a can of Kombucha (because I liked the label) and a cardboard box from the Starbucks instant coffee, some flowers diecut from teabags, and then lots of little leftover pieces from recent diecutting for other projects – tree slices, leaves, birds etc, and some of these little collage squares from my stash, some mail barcodes and some Tim Holtz cello stickers (looks like old yellowed cellotape). It’s funny but I was trying to work on this yesterday and I just couldn’t make it work, nothing looked right, but then I got up this morning and tried again and I’m happy with it now.
These three Halloween cards were the last ones to get posted as they were all local UK cards. Hopefully everyone I mailed cards to received them in time for Halloween!
I also found this little Halloween-inspired box in a drawer and added it to my art room Halloween display. It was made a few years ago and everything in it is a retired product now! The box, frame and heart are all Sizzix dies and the cameos and hocus pocus word chip were Tim Holtz idea-ology products. The metallic-looking hardware was actually made from an old Finnabair mould using hot glue and metallic paint, and the frame is covered with embossing powder and the background for the cameos has crackle paste on it. A lot going on for such a small box that fits in my hand lol.
And finally here’s the perfect work of art – Miss P is really enjoying her bed of blankets on the couch. She doesn’t mix with the other two, so she sleeps in her own room on a sofa bed at night. This was her when I got up yesterday morning, just being very relaxed and happy. She has enormous feet and very short legs that makes me think of Hobbits, so we often call her little hobbit. This photo makes her look like she’s all feet and no legs. 🙂 She will soon be eleven years old, her birthday is in January.
I do also want to say Happy Gotcha day to my dear departed cats Wombat and Roo, as I got them both on Halloween 26 years ago. Gosh that sounds like a long time doesn’t it but I only lost Roo in 2015 (age 17) and Wombat in 2016 (age 18). They were the most precious and I miss them every day. Roo on the left, Wombat on the right. They were such sweet cats (not like these delinquent kittens I have now! lol)
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!Ingredients

I love your page with all the recycled elements Elle, and your halloween cards are fab, even though I’m not a fan of halloween myself.
Hello kitties! Glad all went reasonably well at the vets, and you managed the trip.
I’m sorry to hear about the back brace, I hope it helps. You do well to create such fabulous artwork.
Wishing you a happy and healthy November.
Alison xx
Gosh, you have been in the wars recently, first crutches and now a back brace. I feel for you because I have a chronic back condition and the pain is excruciating. Nobody seems to be able to help – I think backs are difficult for doctors. Hope the brace helps and you soon are much better.
Love the cats – all of them including the dear departed. Just sorry the vet bills have gone up so much.
That is a fab page you have done, there is so much on it, so much work gone into it but it is worth it and I just adore the tree slices and the leaves. Same goes for the halloween cards – lucky recipients.
Hugs, Neet xx
I can feel your vet bill pain since Miss Maddie is costing us a fortune between her diabetes and now see needs to have a fatty lump in the crook of a leg removed. OUCH! But hopefully the kitties stay healthy, and gaining weight is a good sign. I like your last page for October. Isn’t it interesting how when you get involved making something you can really dislike it, and then later, you like it. And sometimes it goes the other way around too. I hope you have a great Halloween, and thank you for joining AJJ and Alison’s challenge so many times this month. Have a great rest of your spooky day, and hopefully your back will feel better soon too. hugs-Erika
