Hi Friends!
For some reason I am playing catch-up again. I blame the weekend, or the weather or something, as this should have been yesterday’s page, but here are the pages for Days 10-12. Page 13 is done but I will share it with 14 and 15 later this week. I finally took the Halloween decorations down, it’s been difficult to do anything extra with this back problem on top of the knee thing. I had also created a Halloween theme for my blog and I’m still using it (dark purple) so I’m wondering whether or not to change it now that’s it’s mid November. I do rather like it though…
Today’s art . . .
Today I am sharing three more pages from this month’s journal created for #NoSewNovember Instagram challenge hosted by @megjournals , one page was created with Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey in mind – can you guess which one? 🙂 It’s probably pretty obvious this time, right.
Day 10 – ripple
This has another watercolour background (as I mentioned, I had painted them all in advance). Because the prompt was “ripple” I tried to make this one look like ripples were forming around the diving mermaid tail using a mixture of gold and dark blue. I like how this background turned out as it can look a little bit like a landscape – does anyone else see a headland near the top left with a beach below? Or some dark blue cliffs behind the tail? Completely unintentional and a result of the wet, moving watercolour doing its own thing.
(Watercolour background, TH cello stickers, gold ink, blue Mermaid marker, brown stablio, washi tape, white posca)
Day 11 – weave
For the weave prompt I repurposed this old greeting card I made years ago and attached it to my page with a brad. The woven hessian along the bottom for “weave” element. I need to repeat this to myself as a mantra, as I am hoping to downsize once I am off these crutches. Less is more, less is more, less is more…
(recycled tag/card, brad, glue, )
Day 12- match
For Day 12 “match” I made a matchbook out of some coffee packaging, and used these Tim Holtz/Sizzix coffee mugs and embossing folder to decorate. This is the new Vault Side Order Freshly Brewed which has the coffee mugs and the takeaway coffee embossing folder. I used some recycled cardboard in different coloured and ran them through the embossing folder in the Big Shot then cut them up. The medium Kraft card is an amazon box, it embossed really well, and the orange-y card is from a supermarket cake box.
I used another of the Side Orders to make the letterboard and letters down the sides, that one is just called Vault Letterboard.
(Starbucks coffee packaging, amazon box, card scraps, watercolour paper, TH Side Orders – Freshly Brewed and Letterboard, Pitt artist pens, TH crayon and Mica stain (both Fallen Acorn), glue, staples, Versafine Clair nocturne,)
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients
