Hi Friends!

Happy Tuesday!  Hope your week is going well!  I am still on crutches, my back has eased a little so I have less pain and can move a little more, and all the cats are currently doing well and behaving themselves, so not a bad start to the week!

Today’s art . . .

Today I am sharing my November calendar page which was made with Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey in mind. I am again using my recycled and unloved former Leuchtturm1917 A4 bullet journal that never got much use because I guess I am just not a bullet journaler!  I’m an art journaler, and this poor journal is at last getting a lot more use now that it is being used for my monthly calendar spreads than it ever did as a bullet journal.  Most of the page has been covered with this Jane Davenport washi sticker paper which has been in my stash since 2018 but I still had some left as I really hated to use it all up, because then I wouldn’t have any and it is now long discontinued. The dilemma I had with it back in 2018 was whether to cut it up or to use it as a whole page, neither option seemed like a good one at the time, so I still had some full pages unused.  However, for this calendar spread, I was able to use big pieces of it around the edges of my calendar block, so I didn’t feel like I was wasting it.

Then I painted around it to cover all the joins, and in the process covered up most of the washi paper!  The photo above shows the “before painting” page and the photo below show the “after painting” page for comparison.  After the paint was dry, I then got to doodling and adding extra things to the pages – lots more purple scales around the pages, more dots and bubbles, eyes on the octopuses (octopi ? octopods?) and touching up a few details like the tentacle on the left side that looks a bit cut off on the sticker paper and now comes to a point on the finished page.

Feel free to play spot the differences between the photo above and the one below.  I also drew some mermaid tails around the edges of the calendar just for fun.  It was a fun page to play with overall.  Oh and do you see my Cat Mum mug (or perhaps you would prefer the blue painty water) for my ticket to tea today?

A little slideshow showing some close ups…

Take a deep breath was printed on the washi paper, but I thought it was a good idea to remember to do just that, since we are now heading towards the busiest time of the year.  In addition to joining AJJ today I am also joining the Tea Ladies with a choice of blue painty water or my decaf coffee in my Cat Mum mug as shown in the photos above.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

That’s a cool calendar. I wouldn’t mind being a mermaid in some warm water today-it has been cold at my house. And having everything good is nice, isn’t it? Glad to hear the back is improving too. Thanks for joining Wendy’s challenge again, and I hope it was a super T day. hugs-Erika

I love your calendar. It sure puts mine to shame.. Those are charming additions, especially the mermaid you 9ave us and go purrfectly with Wendy’s theme at AJJ.

I think I prefer your drink in your Cat Mum mug to the paint water. Thanks for sharing with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle..

I love all those imagined seascapes. I’ve been snorkeling a lot and I’m still hoping to see a mermaid.
