Hi Friends!
Happy T Day! I haven’t been online much as little Miss Lily has been unwell so I have been looking after her and trying to get her to eat and not vomit. I had to sleep downstairs on the couch with her over the weekend until I could get her to the vet yesterday. She is on anti-vomiting medication for the next week, as it is another bout of gastritis but she will need blood tests to find out why this keeps happening. The vet suspects it could be pancreatitis (they’ve both had digestive issues from day one, her brother if you recall, has IBD). Anyway now she is responding to the meds, she has stopped being sick and is eating again so that is good news and she seems a lot brighter today.
After my last hospital visit I am still on crutches or rather, I should say, I am still on CRUTCH, as I now have only ONE CRUTCH, so that’s progress, right?
Oh and I finished my shawl…
I am a little disappointed that it looks more yellow and less grey but that’s my fault for starting from the middle of the yarn cake instead of the outside. If I had done it the other way round then all that yellow would have been grey and I would only have the mustard-y colour around the outside. Oh well, never mind.
Today’s art . . .
Today’s art are these altered playing cards. I am playing catch up with Shanouki Art’s Full Deck challenge which you can find in her FB group, on Instagram but mainly on her Youtube channel here. This is a year long challenge, where you alter one playing card every week till the end of the year. The overall theme for this year is MINI COLLAGE which is totally my jam so I’m in! There are only three rules which you can choose to follow or not –
1. leave one corner unaltered to show the number and suit,
2. carry something forward from the previous card, and
3. Use one thing the same in every card.
She also offers a prompt for each card that will get progressively more challenging. The first seven are all simple colour challenges. I have not been feeling very creative this year so far, so it was good to get stuck into something, even if it was something small like these playing cards. I have several sets of playing cards that came from various casinos in Australia (Melbourne, Adelaide, Burswood and Gold Coast). I pulled them out to use one of them but then I got all sentimental and didn’t want to use them, so I ended up scanning some cards, printing them out and backing them with watercolour paper. Now I can keep my Aussie casino cards for actually playing card games or more likely, patience!
Garden update . . .
It’s still very cold here and the weather has been pretty awful, lots of wind and heavy rain, and yet the garden believes that Spring is on the way. There are Snowdrops under the hedges and the pond is FULL of frogs laying eggs. There must be over 50 of them zooming around the pond like little motorboats. This is great news as frogs need to mature to about age 2-3 years before they can spawn so I’m pleased to see that so many of them have reached that age and returned to their birth pond. I can hear the croaking from the garden.
And finally . . .
Another delicious healthy vegan treat! This is called a Brookie, as it is combination of a brownie on the bottom and a cookie on the top. Brownie + Cookie = Brookie! I say “healthy” as the brownie is made with sweet potato and oat flour, and the cookie is made with chickpeas and banana. To me the texture of the brownie is more like pumpkin pie filling and less like a real brownie, because it is mostly sweet potato and very little flour. The cookie part, I could eat all day, it’s delicious, and mostly consists of chickpeas, dates, banana, peanut butter and chocolate chips. There is no sugar in any of it. BTW the strawberry pattern is on the plate, it’s not a real strawberry though it kinda looks like one from a distance!
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy T Day!Ingredients

T Stands for – Tuesday
A great post. I love that shawl. You did a wonderful job on it. I do like the cards too.
Hi again Elle. Yes, I did link up from my phone. It’s funny, but when I went to my computer it came up like I linked up from my computer. Nice catch though, and thank you. I appreciate it. Have a great Wednesday. hugs-Erika
Wow i love your shawl! Enjoy your challenge, it looks as though you already are though! I can’t imagine anything worse than all of those frogs and their croaking! I have a frog phobia! Hope you continue to improve and that Miss Lily is feeling better! Happy T Day, hugs, Chrisx
That dessert sounds wonderful! I would love to try it. The altered cards are super cool – I would love to try that challenge some day. The kitty one is my favorite so far. Cool Crochet and I like the colors.
We have a large pond and so do most of our neighbors so we have frogs everywhere in warmer weather. I love to listen to them and I love that they eat bugs.
Hope your kitty gets much better and you too sweet Elle. Happy T-day and hugz
Yes, I thought it was a real strawberry, but of course I then remembered that it wasn’t strawberry season.
Your shawl looks lovely . It’s difficult to know where to start the yarn. I have the same problem with socks. The yarn creates a pattern. It’s easy for the first sock. I can start where I like, but to get the second sock exactly the same, it’s always a problem.
Snowdrops! A sure sigh spring is coming.
You have been promoted from two crutches to one. Can’t be bad.
I hope your cat is better now. It’s always worrying when your fur babies are ill.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Good news that you are down to one crutch, and I hope that will go soon as well. I also hope that Miss Lily will be much better soon, we don’t reallt like to see our “babies” suffer. It’s amazing that you’re already done with the shawl, it looke beautiful and I like the combination of gray and yellow. Oh, and the frogs – how lovely to have them in your pond.
I’m glad Miss Lily and you are on the mend. Congrats to graduating to one crutch. Wow you completed the shawl in record time. That project would have taken me ages and ages. Fun playing cards. My favorite is 6 the Cat, of course. The Brookie sounds so good. And here it is Elevensies and no goodies in the house. Happy T Day
You made me crave a REAL brownie!
Glad to hear Miss Lilly is now eating, and sorry to hear you are still on a crutch, but 1 is way better than 2. You have a lot of patience to go this long. Your shawl looks amazing, even if you think there’s too much yellow it is bright and cheery, And you have flowers and frogs laying eggs so you are way closer to spring than me as we still have a lot of snow on the ground. I write that to make you feel less cold-grin. And I’m loving those cards. I did a bit of card playing and want to do some more. Those cards are almost like ATC’s in a broad sense- but lovely. I hope everything continues to improve and you have a super rest of your T day and week ahead. Hugs-Erika
Glad you are getting to move around with just one crutch and about Miss Lily ??. Your shawl looks so pretty, the grey and yellow go so perfectly together. Your ATC are amazing too, I bet you had fun creating all those different designs. Wishing you a very Happy T Tuesday ?. Hugs, Jo x
