Hi Friends!
Here is another journal page I have managed to squeeze in before the end of February (tomorrow – eek!) I have one more in progress – I hope I can finish it in time!
Today’s art . . .
This is a page for Vicki’s theme of Music on Art Journal Journey I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to join in this month, I had so many plans and page ideas but this month has not been the best.
So you might ask, what does Dracula have to do with a music theme, eh? Well I recently re-read Dracula, it’s one of my favourite books, and if you haven’t read it, believe me, it’s not what you think. Anyway, I have an Audible membership, and as part of my membership, they include a lot of podcasts and thousands of books for free. I was browsing and saw a version of Dracula narrated by Greg Wise, the actor, so I wanted to listen as he has a good voice. That was in January, and then I saw Vicki’s Music theme announced in February and I immediately thought “children of the night, what music they make” and knew I wanted to make a Dracula page. This quote happens very early on in the book when Johnathan Harker is at the castle. He hears wolves howling and Dracula says “Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!” This is often misquoted as “what sweet music” but that was never said in the book. So I took the quote about the wolves “singing” and added some sheet music paper, some various Idea-ology bits and pieces, and did some diecutting – the Count, the lantern, the spider, the bats, the raven, the coffin and the candles. If you look very closely at the coffin lid you will see a blue eye peeking out through the bat-shaped hole. This Count die is one of the multi-layered Colorize sets by Sizzix and Holy Moly there are a lot of layers. I decided to cut everything out on white mixed media paper and colour them, not sure that made it easier lol but I didn’t want to use coloured cardboard. Having loads of white pieces though was a tad confusing!
I am also joining #Scrappy8Challenge for their February theme of “Inspired by a book” on Instagram.
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Oh my! This is totally awesome! I’m in love with all of the layers you’ve managed on your layout along with the cool Dracula! I can hear the organ playing in the dreaded tone! LOL I’m a lover of Halloween/Fall/Spooky so this makes me so happy! I love all of the details! Thank you so much for sharing this and plugging along to join in with my “MUSIC” theme for AJJ!! I appreciate you…and I’m so glad you’re sharing! HUGS
Now this is very original for Vicki’s music theme, but I love it. I haven’t read or listened to Dracula for a long time, but you are right, it isn’t what most people think. You took those book elements and put them together in a fabulous way. I love the big spider and the lantern…well I like everything about this. Your TH Dracula die cut is very fun too. Have you listened to Dracul? It’s a fiction Dracula type of story about Bram Stoker’s childhood and why he was inspired to write Dracula.. One of the authors is even a distance relative of Stoker, Thanks again for joining Vicki’s challenge. hugs-Erika
