Hi Friends!

Today I’m happy to share my take on this week’s More Than Words Challenge.  As per my previous post, there are four Weekly challenges this month, all held on Instagram, with daily inspiration.  If you are on Instagram, this is my day to share my DT project for this week.  As I am a blogger, I am sharing it on my blog too.

Artstacks is sponsoring the challenges again and there is also a free ArtStacks printable available to download for each challenge.  Here’s a look at the Week 1 challenge which started on the 4th and ends on the 10th.

Today’s Art

My finished page is below but I had some difficulty making it work the way I had planned in my head.  For this page I used the free ArtStacks printable, enlarged it and printed it on a transparency.  I chose to use just the woman’s head and the word LOOK from the printable.   I used alcohol markers to colour her hair and lips pink and her eyes blue.  For the hole/holes prompt I made my holes from some tapestry yarn from my stash and formed and held them secure with collage medium.  My layers are made from some scraps of paper and fabrics, and the LOOK quote reads “Look for the magic”.

Here’s a look at where I started.  Comparing it to the finished page above, you can see that I started working on the left hand page, and I really wanted to make it work with this pink tissue paper under the transparency that I printed.  It was clear that I really wanted pink to be involved somewhere but that particular pink was just not the one, so after some time spent trying to bend it to my will, I covered it up and started over on the opposite page.  Things came together pretty quickly after that!
This is a page in my junk journal and the blue patterned paper is one of the background papers in that signature.  I used a gold pen to do some journalling across the background before adding my transparency on top.  I attached the transparency so that it could be flipped up to read the writing underneath.

Here’s a closer look at the page, sorry for the slightly out-of-focus photo on the right.

Instructions on how to enter the challenge are given above.  Each Friday in April, the weekly challenge will be revealed on Instagram, there will be a Guest Designer each week and then daily inspiration from the Design Team.  One winner will be randomly chosen for each challenge.

I hope you find the new challenges interesting and that you can join us if you are on Instagram.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!Ingredients
