I ran out of cat cards and had to make another one for another cat person.  Yes I could have given them a Merry and Bright card or a snowman card but really, I wanted to give them a cat card. So I pulled out this set from Newton’s Nook – Caroling Newton Stamp set.

Given the lateness of the hour, I didn’t have a lot of time to make this one and get it in the post, but I really wanted to use this set and a similar background to the first lot of cat cards so I had to rush rush rush.

First step was to stamp the caroling kitties on the watercolour paper, and then apply the masking fluid to cover them.  This is one I bought in an art shop recently and it comes in a pen, so it’s easy to use.

Hah!  Poor kitties look very cold now that they are blue!

Then I painted the background behind the kitties, starting with the sky, using my Altenew Watercolor 36 pan set.

Then I painted some fir trees on top of the sky.

I waited for the background to dry

Then I added more colour to the sky, to make it bluer and less grey, so that the snow would show up better, and painted in some ground for the kitties to stand on.  Then I flicked my paintbrush of white paint onto the card to create the snow.

Then once it was all dry I peeled off the masking fluid. I had to work slowly and be careful as some parts seemed to not want to come off and started to affect the paper.

Gently rubbing seemed to be the best method.

This one is the one I had the most problems with – oh did I mention I decided to make two at the same time – just as easy to make two cards as one right?  And I thought a backup would be a good idea.

So now I have two cards ready for colouring.

I coloured in both sets of kitties using alcohol markers, altering the colouring on each, and then deciding which one I liked best.

This is the one I decided to post, so I white heat embossed the fa la la la meow sentiment on the bottom and then the following sentiment inside

merry and bright inside

The merry and bright sentiment is from the Concord and 9th stamp set and the little kitties are from the Kitty Tree set, so this card is a bit of a mixture lol but I know she will really like it.

And that’s the final card ready for posting.
