Tis the Season to Wear Ugly Sweaters (Ugly Jumpers) Christmas Card

Just when you think you’re done with all the Christmas card making, there’s just one more card to make!

There was one person I hadn’t made a card for because they had announced that they weren’t sending out cards this year and so most people were not therefore sending cards to them, but it still bothered me that I didn’t have a card for them, and then I remembered this set and thought it was perfect for them because of the humour.

I had first seen it used in this post on the Seven Hills Crafts blog that I just happened to see at exactly the right time as I was trying to think of some little Christmas ornaments I could make for my Secret Santa packages. You can see the Christmas Ornaments post here if you’re curious.  So after I had done that, I thought I was done with this die set for this year, until I thought of this card.

I had recently bought this funny sentiments stamp set from Hero Arts and I thought the two of them together could make for a funny Christmas card that was bound to make them smile.

So this time I cut out all the little sweaters (jumpers) and bits and pieces and started to arrange them to make cute little sweaters.

I decided to use this lime green card from Gina K as it was nice and bright and a good background for the little sweaters.

I used the Off-Beat Holiday Messages to stamp all over the back of the card and after marking where I wanted the sweaters to be on the front, I stamped the little messages around those outlines.

Then I glued my ugly sweaters on the front and added some additional “decoration” on the sweaters with nuvo drops and little stamps, then added some faux stitching with a copic multiliner.

Then I stamped the sentiments in the inside hoping that they “get” the Filthy Animal reference and not think that I’m trying to insult them LOL.

Here’s a couple of sweater close-ups – you can see the nuvo drops, faux stitching and snowman twig arms that were drawn on.

The white details on the bow and gingerbread man were added with a white gel pen.  And that’s the finished card.  This one is another big card, using one full sheet of letter sized card.
