I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Winter Wear set from Concord and 9th and now I get to use it – yay! These girls are so cute!
So to start off I made all the plaid backgrounds using the Plaid Background stamp from Concord and 9th. This is a very cool stamp that has the check already but then also has a thin line stamp that you can stamp over it and add extra dimension to the plaid. You can see what I mean in the image below, with the vertical blue stripe running up and down the backgrounds.
I had also stamped a bunch of the Winter Wear girls and coloured them in using my polychromos.
No I don’t know what I’m going to do with all these girls, but I like extras. Extras are good.
Apart from looking very Christmassy in her red and green (what was I thinking!) I don’t like her face. She looks a bit smug so I’m not using her!
These two girls are perfect!
Now the dilemma is which background to choose!
I ended up choosing neither of the above backgrounds lol and opting for the lighter beige one. I used Gina K cardstock in Sea Glass for the card base. I wanted a big card so I basically folded it in half making a 5.5 x 8.5 inch card. Then I placed the plaid background in the middle and marked where I wanted it to go.
I then diecut FRIEND at the bottom of the card and that’s where I made trouble for myself! But first, I don’t like how their scarves are pointing in the same direction, so I cut the bottom off the green scarf so I could reposition it to the left.
I used the Happy Winter sentiment from the Winter Wear stamp set and the Birthday sentiment from the Notable Numbers set to make a custom “Happy Winter Birthday” sentiment and stamped it at the top of the card. Then I wanted to place some plaid behind the diecut which was fine, except what about the inside now that it will have a big square of plaid stuck there? That was that trouble I mentioned earlier!
And here is my solution! I cut a square of the same Sea Glass cardstock, rounded the corners and attached it to the inside of the card like an inner pocket. Then I used this great Read Between the Lines stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs and the Brainy Bookmarks Sugarcuts dies to make these quick bookmarks to pop inside. I’ll cover these bookmarks in a separate post, but now, it’s time to get this card posted!
