I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Winter Wear set from Concord and 9th. How cute are these girls?
As you can see this is not the finished card! Nothing is glued down and the embossing powder hasn’t been heatset! Sadly I seem to have lost the finished card photo or perhaps it never existed in the first place IDK, let’s call it a technical glitch and move on 🙂
Ok so you might remember that I already used this Winter Wear set to make this card which I *did* manage to photograph before posting!
I also made all the plaid backgrounds at that time too – here’s another reminder of those too…
This time, the card is for my sister, so I wanted to make the girls look a bit like us, but in a very vague, general way. Also my sister would never wear these colours but I’m taking some artistic licence here lol
So the card is basically the same idea as the first card except not using the friend die on the front and not filling the inside with bookmarks! I used the Happy Winter sentiment from the Winter Wear stamp set and the Birthday sentiment from the Notable Numbers set to make a custom “Happy Winter Birthday” sentiment same as with the first card.
I started with the card base which is made from Gina K cardstock in Sea Glass. I wanted a big card so I basically folded it in half making a 5.5 x 8.5 inch card. Then I placed the paid background in the middle and marked where I wanted it to go. Then I stamped my sentiments in the remaining spaces.
After heat embossing the sentiments in black glitter embossing powder, I attached the plaid background on to the front of the card – this background btw is stamped in Sea Glass, Powder Blue and Delicata Gold inks.
Then it was time to add the girls, and I was going to use the two purple/pink girls I had coloured previously BUT I did something stupid which messed up their faces. So what to do? I hate waste so I fussy cut around the hats and scarves, and then I stamped and coloured two new faces
Now all I had to do was assemble the girls and attach them to the front of the card
I did want to make a few little tweaks though. Because on the stamp set the girls’ scarves are both on the right hand side, I thought it looked weird on my card, so I cut one of the scarves so I could then place it on the left hand side. Then because I was placing the girls on top of the plaid, I didn’t want to see white space where there should be plaid, so yes, I painted the plaid colours around the edges of the scarves so they would blend in.
So there we have it, all done. Oh and the envelope…
I used this Top it Off stamp set also from Concord and 9th, with some pretty cake colours and gold.
