I am having a crafty long weekend, as per this post and this post, and this post, and this post, It’s been a really good couple of days so far and I’ve been really enjoying crafting without an agenda.

In my last post I was getting nowhere with the gold frames I had cut out.  Sometimes there are too many options, in this case, card stock colours, and nothing was springing to mind, so I decided to switch gears and do something completely different. This is actually a project from an Altenew Academy class that I purchased (remember I said I was thinking about maybe buying another one?) This class is by Kelly Latevola so I couldn’t resist as I love watching her on Youtube (and listening to her stories!)  She is well known for her colouring and love of one-layer cards.  I rarely do any one-layer cards so I decided to try the class and follow along with the lessons.

I seem to have lost the first photo where I stamped the “Sending Hugs and Happy Thoughts” sentiment, but after I had stamped it, I covered it with a mask so I could (badly) stamp the big Hello over the top of it.

Then I covered the whole sentiment stamped banner area with post-it tape before stamping the whole card with this lovely Cosmos background stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

I do really love how this stamp looks in this colour.  I would have been happy with the card just like this, though it doesn’t have that 3-d effect yet, so I carried on.

I used a copic marker that was a similar colour to my stamping, to draw the banner lines on the top and bottom of my sentiments.

I really should have just stopped there, before I started colouring in the flowers because I’m pretty sure I prefer it just with the teal colour, but I continued on with the supplies that I had available, and started colouring in some of the flowers.  The centres were yellow, then I decided I didn’t like them, so I coloured over them with orange.

I *still* didn’t like them but I continued to work on the 3-d effect of the banner with some shading.

And here is the finished card.  Can you spot the difference between this photo and the one above?  Lol, yes I changed the colour of the flower centres again, this time to black, as I really didn’t care much for the orange either haha.  I’m calling this one done, but I wish I had left it alone and not coloured in any flowers at all.  Still really like the overall card, so as this was all part of my Crafty Long Weekend experiments, I’m happy enough with it.
