Watercolour Stamped Mixed Media Notecards – Gift Ideas

Back again, this time with the third element for my gift package for my lovely friend J.  I decided to make a pack of notecards for her to use, and you may remember I made similar notecards in a slightly bigger size here in this post.Those cards were more of a CAS design, these cards are more messy lol in the mixed media style, which I prefer.

The Finished Cards

 

I used the same basic design and stamps for these cards but I made them at US A2 size 5.25 x 4.5 so I could use these ready made envelopes, and also so I could more easily make and envelope box to package them in.

Decoration

I used inks to watercolour on the watercolour paper that I had first stamped with the butterflies and floral designs.  Then I used some Finnabair liquid acrylics on the floral cards – that blue!  And added black and gold paint splatters and nuvo drops to finish them off.

Construction

I used Neenah 110lb cardstock to make the A2 bases for my notecards, and then stuck the watercoloured panels to them, weighing them down with something heavy till the glue set.  You could of course use adhesive tape but I find glue works better.  I used my envelope punch board to make a box envelope to fit the cards and envelopes inside – it is not designed for this purpose, the one I have makes envelopes, bows and boxes but not envelope boxes!  However, it’s easy enough to do and just requires a bit of thought and some extra measurements.

I made mine from some 12 inch scrapbooking paper in a nice brown, a little darker than kraft. As you can see, the six cards and envelopes fit perfectly inside.
