Hey friends,
This month’s Mini Challenge on MTW is to use the word LOL on something small like a tag, card, postcard or ATC, so let’s look at what I ended up making for my DT project and a bit about how it came together. Don’t you just love this little cat, he’s so cute and curious looking!
So I didn’t really have a plan for this tag except to use the word LOL, but I was looking through all my recently made backgrounds and came across this purple gelli printed one that I made for something else and didn’t end up using. Here’s a photo of it on the gelli plate – just look at those colours!
I had managed to pull a few prints from it and so I decided to use one of them for this tag background. As you know, the main challenge this month is to use stripes and while that is not required for the mini challenge, I fancied the idea of using some of these finger painted stripes that I had made with leftover paint when I was swatching out some colours. I thought that pink and orange one was looking pretty good with the purple!
I thought I would use some shiny black alphabet stickers from my stash but after spending AN AGE trying (and failing) to find them in my newly reorganised craft space, I ended up using these leftover letters that I had cut out of watercolour paper a while back, which I then painted with shiny black fluid acrylic.
I used a Dylusions size #12 tag to draw around my gelli print background to make a tag out of it, then I backed it with cardboard from an old amazon box. Then I stamped the kitty onto my fingerpainted stripey card and attached it to the background. I found the perfect sticker to put on the top of the tag!
Then I attached the LOL letters to the bottom of the tag and called it done!

I started something new for April and continued in May:
Since we are all stuck inside and can’t leave the house, I thought I would try and do two things:
1. use this time to finish any unfinished projects
2. use as much recycled materials and scraps as possible (I do this a lot anyway) but also not to buy new stuff!
So, with that in mind, I will note the above on any posts, if applicable.
UNFINISHED PROJECT – NO
RECYCLED MATERIALS – YES (amazon box, watercolour paper) nothing new used,
Lovely cat!! Thanks for sharing your tag at Mix It Up Challenge Blog! Hope to see you again soon!!
