Hello everyone, hope your Sunday is going well so far.  Lots of very windy and wet weather here, so I am using the results of that in my art today.

today’s journal page . . .

Today’s journal page is my Day 7 for AEDM and another page for AJJ (see end of post for details) and was inspired by a poem by E.E. Cummings and the maple leaves from my garden.

I’ve been collecting some of them to use in my journal, and so for this page, I collaged them between some watercolour paper and white tissue paper and left it to dry.

There was no plan, more of an experiment, and I had thought about cutting it up, but then I opted for colouring the page using a Cobalt Blue Neocolor II and some water.  It made such a beautiful sky colour I could imagine the leaves blowing across a very blue Autumn sky.
It made me think of a poem by E.E.Cummings, one of my favourite poets, the poem is called a wind has blown the rain away and blown.

The poem a wind has blown the rain away and blown, by E.E.Cummings is as follows.

a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think i too have known
autumn too long

(and what have you to say,
wind wind wind—did you love somebody
and have you the petal of somewhere in your heart
pinched from dumb summer?
O crazy daddy
of death dance cruelly for us and start

the last leaf whirling in the final brain
of air!)Let us as we have seen see
doom’s integration………a wind has blown the rain

away and the leaves and the sky and the
trees stand:
the trees stand. The trees,
suddenly wait against the moon’s face.

I wrote out the first few lines from the poem with a black pen on white card and glued them in place.  Then I added some shading with a brown stabilo and called it finished.  Very simple page today!

This is another page for the current theme over on Art Journal Journey which is All kinds of Weather, and was chosen by this month’s lovely host, Chris from PearShapedCrafting.

A fabulous page showcasing your beautiful maple leaves. The gorgeous, vibrant colours contrast and compliment each other wonderfully. A lovely touch to have the lines from the poem tumbling through the air with the leaves.

What gorgeous leaves! Here in the far south we don’t get many vibrant colored leaves but I do come in with a handful of what does fall when I feed the horse! The background is amazing and perfect with the poem and leaves!

Beautiful the way you paired the leaves with your background. I like how the colors compliment each other and how well it goes with the Cummings poem. It is also perfect for Chris’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too, dear Elle.

The leaves look gorgeous against the blue sky you created Elle. What a pretty fall page. perfect for Chris challenge at AJJ. Thanks for joining us. And lovely for AEDM too. The skies are always so blue in the fall and winter and you matched that color perfectly. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika
