Hello friends, and Happy November!
Wow I can’t believe it’s November already, October was such a full on creative month and it seemed to fly by in no time. Last month I created a total of 36 art journal pages! That’s a record for me lol. I bound 31 of them into a book for October, which you can see here. I don’t usually make monthly books but there were just so many pages, it had to be done. Now I’m wondering if I should change how I do things and make monthly books, what do you think?
Anyway, here’s to a creative month ahead! Since it is the 1st of the month, I have my DT inspiration project for the November Main challenge at More Than Words. The challenge this month is as follows:
I found a perfect quote by Rumi about gratitude and knew I wanted to use that on my page. Then looking at the mood board, I was really drawn to the pumpkins, and had already featured a lot of pumpkins last month, including this page about the Great Pumpkin, so I decided to paint more pumpkins.
The paint I used for the background is called Parchment and it’s a really nice subtle green colour. After the background was dry, I sketched out some basic pumpkin shapes as a rough guide to where I wanted them to go.
I used acrylic paint to paint in my pumpkins – they are all different varieties – and then wrote my Rumi quote to fit in the space between them,
Then I added more detail to the pumpkins and drew some leaves using Pitt artist pens, and then some paint pens.
This little blue pumpkin is representing the mighty Queensland Blue pumpkin, which is considerably bigger in real life, and is the best pumpkin for making pumpkin soup.
You can’t get them here of course, so I have to make do with Butternut pumpkins, but they also make very good soup. They are also weirdly called Butternut squash here for some unknown reason, but they are a pumpkin.
Do you have a favourite pumpkin or is that just me? LOL I think that one on the right looks delicious!
Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge this month. Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
