Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!
Hope you are having a great day that turns into a great week!
today’s art . . .
Today’s art, is this woven scarf that was an UFO for a long time but I finally finished it at the weekend! Since I have not managed to get rid of any craft supplies, I thought I would at least try and use some of the things that I do have and continue to finish UFOs that are hanging around taking up space. This scarf stuck on this loom for years had to be stored in a particular way to make sure it didn’t get damaged and even though this is a small loom it does take up a bit of space around itself, as you are trying to protect the warp threads from breakage etc. so it couldn’t really be pushed into a cupboard.
If you are interested in the scarf itself, it is warped on Harris Tweed yarn that they use for weaving the Harris Tweed. I bought some mill ends when I was up there last time as I visited a mill where they prepare everything from fleece to finished cloth. The other yarns I used for the weaving are a bit random, some sock yarn, some of my handspun art yarn, some eyelash yarn, some chunky yarn some more Harris Tweed yarn and that dark blue yarn is knitting yarn that they also make at the same mill from the same raw material that they use to make the tweed!
This little weaving kit just arrived this morning so I thought I would share it here too since I was talking about weaving – it’s so cute and I think incredibly good value! I’m actually very impressed with it. I ordered it for a friend but I am actually thinking of getting one for myself now too and there is so much included in the kit. *I know I am supposed to be getting rid of craft supplies not buying more, but I think I would get a lot of use out of it as just something to keep my hands busy making mini projects (potential gifts!) while watching Netflix. * To give you an idea of size, that is a piece of A4 (Letter) paper behind it so they are quite small, good for mini wall hangings, coasters etc. The kit contains the two looms, 6 wooden needles (3 different lengths), 2 wooden combs, a shuttle, 2 sets of mounting bars, a tapestry needle, a tote bag with wooden tag and cost £25. All I have to do is add some yarn and it will make a great beginners gift for my friend.
100 Day Project . . .
I thought I would share a sneak peek of my 100 Day Project which I have been working on offline due to lack of time (all that house DIY) and not sharing consistently or actually at all on Instagram every day. Due to lack of time, I felt that my choice was either to not participate at all this year, or just take the pressure off myself and take my time and do it because I was enjoying the process and not feeling I had to rush to finish each day. So I decided to use ATCs again this year, and so I used old amazon boxes to make my ATCs – I got all of these ATCs from just three boxes.
I dismantled the boxes, measured and cut them out with scissors while watching Netflix so it was easy and non-stressful. As you can see, I managed to get 110 ATCs from the amazon boxes, some of them are made up of more than one piece of cardboard, taped together, so I have spares.
So what is my project, well here’s a look at some of the other material I am using…
It’s all looking a bit tweedy around here, don’t you think?
kitties . . .
I showed you my lovely new rug last week in this photo below, and the next day Miss Lily christened it by throwing up on it! I am so not happy about that for several reasons, not least because she left the room she was in and ran into this room to deliberately? on purpose? throw up on the new rug, really?
Also I wanted to show you Miss P looking very relaxed yesterday morning. She’s such a funny cat, this is not actually her official bed either but I let her sleep in this room at night especially when it’s cold, and so this bed actually belongs to Mr G, but she commandeers it at night. She doesn’t feature too much on the blog as she spends most of her day outside – as a former feral farm cat she wants out but she likes to be in at night and also for afternoon naps. However, despite looking very cute in this photo, she really does not like other cats, so she has to be kept separate from the other two for everyone’s safety!

…these little tartan coasters. I guess in the US you would call these plaid but we call them tartan. These are just regular machine woven tartan fabric not Harris Tweed which is much more tweedy and handwoven, this fabric is machine woven in a factory. These are also specific clan tartans, the green is Colquhoun tartan and the orange is Ancient Bruce tartan so if either of those were your surname then these would be your clan tartans.
I think that everyone that I sent packages to last month has received them now so hopefully there are surprises in this photo below! Thank you for sharing in my birthday celebration with me, and I’m sorry it took so long to get them posted – I still haven’t seen our mobile post office so I have no idea what happened to it! If you left me a comment on my contact form, I did receive it, thank you! EDITED TO ADD: just in case you get a package from me, can you please ensure my address is hidden in any photos as I don’t want it on the internet for safety reasons. I did try to make my writing as illegible as possible just in case of mishaps – thanks.
My tea in this photo is a lovely Earl Grey with a citrus twist (it has bits of dried orange peel, lemon and lime included it in). Happy T Day! As always, thanks for reading, and have a great week!

Thanks for sharing your tartan plaid coasters, kitties and little weaving kit. Lovely post. Sorry to be late, but I went out of town to see our grandson graduate college. Happy belated T Day.
I love seeing all your in-progress crafts! The tartan is so pretty. Your coasters are lovely and a wonderful handmade present. I know everyone loved the packages you sent.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I’m running behind commenting as I had a lot going on last evening. Your latest projects look great Elle. Those ATC’s will be very colorful and fun, like your coasters. And you have a nice little loom too. I have a small one I got as a teenager, and I haven’t used it since then, but I keep thinking I will one day use it again. And maybe Miss Lily wants to make the rug her own with more cat smells. Smile. But that is an adorable photo of Miss P. Thanks again for the coasters and candy and sorry again for my messing up. You would think that with my writing as messy as it is I could read other messy writing myself…smile. Hope it was a lovely T day otherwise. Hugs-Erika
Elle, I really like seeing your weaving. That new loom kit is awesome! Hmmm… interesting supplies for your next project. Cutting all that cardboard, I know, was a chore. Have a lovely evening.
First, i wanted to let you know I received your package today. Not sure why it took so much longer than everyone else’s, but I am so impressed with your work, Elle. I will show it next week. Be assured, I never show addresses and if they happen to be present in the photo, I have gotten pretty good with the smudge tool in PS.
I love that scarf. It is beautiful. And that loom kit looks beautiful, too. I suspect you will end up getting one for yourself, too.
Poor Miss P. Too bad she doesn’t like being around other kitties. I know the feeling. Squiggles and Bleubeard don’t want to be around each other, either.
I think your fabric ATCs are going to be wonderful. I like how you recycled the Amazon boxes, too.
Thanks for sharing your completed UFO, your kitties, your ATC bases, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
That’s a beautiful
Elle, looks like you have been busy with Netflix, preparing ATCs, sending gifts, finishing up old projects, and planning new ones. Guess you cat didn’t like that rug too much – lol. Beautiful beings!
Love the sound and look of that tea and the tartans/plaids/yarn.
Loved this post. Happy late Birthday! Happy T-day and hugz
I love the scarf that you made, the colours and weaving look amazing – so beautiful ?. I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re creating with all those materials. The photos of your kitty cats are super cute. The coaster and tag was such a lovely gift and the Finger of Fudge was yummy, I haven’t had one of those for years – thanks again! Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
Theweaving kit looks complicated.
Lucky you with Netflix – here it´s no use. You cannot choose the language. But I admit, I have the TV running, too.
Cats seem to be cute and complicated!
Happy T-Day!
How wonderful of you to send those beautiful gifts… I always love to see your cats…. And that weaving kit IS adorable… I’m not sure i could figure out all those little pieces! I’ll bet your friend will love it.. Happy happy T Tuesday! Hugs! deb
I always love seeing your kitties Elle- so sweet. I don’t weave but that does look like a really great kit which I’m sure you will put to good use:). Love those tartan coasters!! I’ve loved plaid for as long as I can remember. That was so thoughtful of you to send out these lovely things. Looking forward to seeing your ATCs come to life. Happy T day!
